Emanuel Emails Reveal Close Collaboration Between Democrats, Republicans to Destroy Unions, Rob Workers

We are pleased to publish the full set of the recently released emails from Chicago Democratic Party Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s private email server that were finally divulged after a lawsuit brought against the Emanuel Administration by the tepidly reformist “Better Government Association” (BGA – former Chicago TV newsman Andy Shaw’s hobbyhorse).  We’ve also added the court documents released by the BGA along with the emails, because you never know when the BGA’s website will “lose” the links to the emails and start producing the usual “404 error” page we see all the time with releases like this.

DOCUMENTS:

  1.   rahm-emanuel-personal-email-court-documents
  2. 122116-wls-bga-emanuel-emails settlement agreement
  3. BGA vs City of Chicago_Rahm Emanuel private email server emails (3276 pages. censored)

Like the infamous and insecure private email server of Hilary Rodham Clinton, Rahm Emanuel’s email server is purpose-built to help Democrat Emanuel to hide his behind-the-scenes close collaboration with the Dems’ Republican “opponents” as well as the allegedly pro-union Democrats’ secret collaboration with the anti-union capitalists who bankroll both the Democratic and Republican candidates for all the major political offices here in the “Land of the Free”(TM).  Under the toothless “government transparency” laws, all emails and other correspondence from and to government leaders is supposed to be carried out via official  communications channels where they can be archived and preserved as public records, reviewable by the citizenry via Freedom of Information Act requests.  Every communication of every President, Senator, Congressperson and on down through the government to local mayors is supposed to be subject to public scrutiny – if only after a number of years have passed.  The “secret” private servers of Clinton, Emanuel and other “public servants” are kept secret only from the supposedly supreme power in the US’ phony democracy: the citizens.  In fact, private, illegal communications networks set up by top US politicians and federal agency heads are constantly being revealed which prove to anyone paying attention that the only people who these bought-and-paid-for public servants “protect and serve” are the wealthiest people in the USA: the 10% of the US population who own 75% of the national wealth.  Billionaires like Penny Pritzker and Bruce Rauner have full access to the ears and eyes of politicians like Hillary Clinton and Rahm Emanuel via these “secret” email servers, where they can conspire against you behind your back while they publicly pretend to be at each others’ throats.  These repulsively wealthy people, who actually run the USA in their own selfish interests, have 24/7/365 access to the big-city mayors and all the top politicians who are in their turn busily stuffing their and their friends’ pockets with whatever they can filch from the hundreds of billions of dollars in tax money stolen every year from you, the struggling members of the working class.

Even the cursory examination of the emails which we’ve been able to do provides a rare glimpse into the backroom deals constantly being engineered by the phony “friends of labor” Democrats and their real friends among the capitalist 1%ers who actually run Chicago and the USA.  The billionaire who is now the Republican governor of Illinois – Bruce Rauner – whom the Democrats publicly pretend to be their enemy – turns out to be on a first-name basis with Rahm and is revealed to be actually a member of the (very small) Rahm Emanuel fan club.  “You’re a good politician” Rauner gushes at Rahm in an email in which he and the “friend of labor” Emanuel administration conspire to coordinate their attacks on perhaps the last popular and powerful bastion of union labor in Chicago, the Chicago Teacher’s Union.

Rauner conspires with Emanuel to Crush Chicago Teachers' Union

Emanuel and his Republican allies are seen in the emails conspiring to carefully engineer their attacks on the Teachers Union so as to justify smashing the union. They plan to take pains to minimize the “psychological shock” to the pro-teachers’ union majority of the working-class population of the city when they launch their final assault on the union’s ability to protect tenured teachers from summary dismissals based on their poverty-stricken students’ weak GPAs. In other words, the US capitalist class and their politicians are cutting funding to the very social and educational programs necessary for students to excel in school, and then they plan to use the low test scores generated by their cuts to justify the gutting of the seniority rights of “underperforming” teachers!

The emails were released in a single .pdf file of over 3200 pages, which makes searching the individual emails a chore to say the least.  The Chicago press corps and the BGA itself have bent over backwards to downplay the significance of the evidence of close collaboration between the two capitalist-owned-and-operated political parties of the USA when it comes to attacking the teachers’ union and shoving the greedy agenda of the Chicago capitalist elites  down the throats of the workers of Chicago and Illinois.  The head of the teachers union, Karen Lewis, is herself a close friend of her “opponent” Rahm Emanuel and spends her time in a pantomime of opposition to the union-busting operations of her own Democratic Party directed at “her” union.  As we have pointed out to the workers time and time again, the Democratic Party is not now and never has been composed of the “friends of labor” but is in fact owned and operated – just as the Republican Party is – by the mortal enemies of the workers of the US and the world: the US capitalist class.  So long as the leadership of the US trade union movement is politically shackled to the pro-capitalist dung-cart of the Democratic Party the union movement will not advance a single step but will continue on its downward trajectory into oblivion.  Only a class-struggle Trotskyist leadership of the union movement dedicated to the overthrow of the capitalist system which systematically robs the working class of the fruits of its labor can lead a resurgence of the US labor movement.

The emails also reveal the careful massaging of the news media constantly being undertaken by the Democrats in order to get the most positive coverage possible for their never-ending attacks on the unions and the working class in general.  The masses must be kept blind and must always have pro-capitalist propaganda driven down their throats continuously lest they discover how badly they are being screwed by their political “friends”.   And of course the media – like the politicians themselves, wholly owned and operated by the 1%ers – dutifully obliges, covering up the actual collaboration between the anti-union capitalist class and the “friends of labor” in the Democratic Party.  “Everyone” wins – except the vast majority of the population in the working class, who see their standard of living being steadily eroded.

The close collaboration betwen the “friends of labor” Democrats and their murderous, racist police is also laid bare by the emails.  Emanuel and ex-Chicago police chief McCarthy fret over news media coverage of the latest atrocities committed by the police and desperately try to maintain the fiction that the police in a capitalist state are supposed “to protect and serve” the working class.  As every intelligent worker knows, the police are the mortal enemies of the workers, racist thugs who think nothing of shooting workers – especially black and Hispanic workers – who dare to stand up against racist police terror.  The cops in a capitalist state have one role to play: they defend the racist capitalist status quo, crushing any attempt of the working class to fight for their rights.  The cops defend capitalist private property and the “inalienable right” of the 1% to 75% of the national wealth!

We wish we had the time to do a thorough dissection of these emails so we could present you with the juiciest evidence of how the Democrats are selling you out to their wealthy owners day in and day out, but we just don’t have the personnel to enable such a project.  We need honest, hard-working workers to put down their TV remotes and dedicate themselves to fighting for the rights of the working class by joining our party or at least helping us do this work on a regular basis.  Until you start to take your working class political responsibilities to yourselves and your families seriously you will continue to get pummeled by the endless assaults being launched against you by your mortal enemies: the capitalist greedheads and their political hatchetmen in both the Democratic and Republican parties.  The enemies of the vast majority of the population of every capitalist nation-state – the working class – needs the kind of 24/7/365 representation that the top 3% have.  Until you build that kind of organization you will be stuck impotently “speaking truth to power” to a ruling class that is so completely insulated from you that the desperate pleas of your hundreds of millions of workers sounds like a plaintive whisper they need not trouble themselves to notice.

Chicago, IL, USA (31 December 2015):  About 150 activists in Chicago (IL, USA) held a spirited and righteous – if politically naive – demonstration at City Hall on the final day of 2015, calling on Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez to resign.

Led – apparently – by “Black Lives Matter” activists (we were never able to confirm it), the crowd assembled on the first floor of Chicago’s City Hall and was addressed by speakers from – probably – BLM.  A dozen or so police monitored the demonstration and basically let it occupy the ground floor in front of the elevators for 45 minutes, at which time the entire demonstration boarded the elevators and headed to the 5th floor, where Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office is located.  There the crowd reassembled in the hallway just outside his office; various speakers addressed the crowd and led it in chants calling for Emanuel to step down.

Outrageously, there was no sign of any trade union members in attendance, and only a couple of the city’s main revolutionary socialist groups had a presence there, including the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) – who brought an excellent banner along.  Socialist Alternative was there as well, as was the Progressive Labor Party.  The International Socialist Organization and the Spartacist League were nowhere to be found, though they may have been at the earlier Democratic Party-led demo featuring Jesse Jackson and Father Michael Pfleger.  Unfortunately, we don’t have enough members to cover both demonstrations! Those larger parties do, though, so it’s odd that they missed the demo we attended.

After about a half an hour in front of the (apparently empty) Mayor’s office, the demonstration headed to the street and began a march from City Hall to the site on Michigan Avenue near the Tribune Tower (where the city is to have its “Chicago Rising” New Year’s Eve soiree), marching right down the middle of the street as the cops frantically tried to keep the traffic disruption to a minimum.

The “Chicago Rising” New Year’s Eve event was  originally supposed to be free of charge to the public – but out of alleged concern for “public safety” the city fathers chose instead to sell tickets to the event for the “low, low price” of $90 or $150 per person!  In order to get to the Hyatt Hotel on East Wacker Drive where the giant LED star symbolizing Chicago’s “Rising” was to ascend the building, citizens had to pay $150 at ticket booths that were set up behind barricades blocking off the street.  This is in keeping with the Democrats’ apparent desire that only the rich be allowed to participate fully in the cultural life of Chicago while the poor and working class citizens can all just go to hell.

The police, on bicycles, had apparently been ordered to keep their bloody “hands off” the demonstration; they made a futile attempt to block the protestors from marching from Trump Tower to Michigan Avenue – but after the protestors, urged on by a young woman activist, quickly were re-routed around the police daisy chain, the cops otherwise left the protestors to their own ad-hoc devices. This may have been due to previous arrangements with the organizers of the demonstration: we observed one of the men leading the chants “fist bumping” a number of bicycle cops in a far too friendly manner.

The marchers briefly blocked the intersection at Wacker and Michigan Avenues just south of the bridge over the Chicago River.  It looked to us as if they’d be there for a while, so we took a break at a local pastry shop for less than 10 minutes. By this time the crowd had dwindled to about 50 people or less.  When we emerged from the coffee shop, the demonstration had disappeared.  We overheard the police on their radios saying the demo was at Washington and Michigan, but even though we immediately headed to that location and arrived in 5 minutes, the demo had vanished without a trace and we were unable to relocate it!

There seemed to have been very little in the way of planning for this march; no one was informed as to where it was headed or if there would be any events later on.

The primary political demands of the protest leaders were for the resignations of Emanuel and Alvarez and for an elected civilian police review board to be created to “oversee” the cops.  The protest leaders also urged the demonstrators to register to vote, although it was not clear who they intended us all to vote “for”!  Seeing that they do not even call for a new political party to be formed we can only conclude that they intend to vote for the Democrats again, since the Republicans are so convinced that it would be futile to run candidates for Mayor in this heavily Democratic city, they don’t bother to do so.

The “Black Lives Matter” movement has done an excellent job of organizing powerful demonstrations against police murder which has exposed to the entire world the deep racism that remains at the heart of the US capitalist system.  But their demands fall far short of what is necessary to end the endless series of killings of black workers by the racist cops.  Nothing short of workers socialist revolution is necessary to put and end once and for all to racism and racist killer cops here in the USA and throughout the entire capitalist world.  We see racist cops attacking workers in EVERY capitalist state, from the US to France to South Korea, Egypt and Israel.  The killer kops of kapitalism are the enemies of the working class!

The idea that an elected civilian police review board would give the workers “control” over the police department is a popular one. Unfortunately it is our duty as revolutionary Trotskyists to tell you, sisters and brothers, that it is completely impossible for the working class to exert “control” over the police in a capitalist state!  The police exist to protect the private property rights of the capitalist class – the wealthiest 10% of the population. The capitalist state is not “neutral” when it comes to adjudicating the endless conflict between the workers and the capitalist bosses.   The cops, courts and the military in every capitalist state are owned and operated by – and exert their power in the interests of – the capitalist class.  The only way that the working class can truly “control” the police is if the workers overthrow the capitalist state itself and replace it with a revolutionary socialist workers state. THEN – and only then! – can we have complete control over the killer kops of kapitalism – and put them in jail where they belong!  Those who tell you, sister and brother workers, that you can “control” the cops without first overthrowing the capitalist system are either naively misleading you… or are consciously telling you lies – plain and simple.  We believe that when it comes to the majority of Black Lives Matter activists it is naivete rather than deliberate lying going on; although some of the BLM leaders are definitely in the camp of the Democratic Party and therefore are deliberately trying to keep the protests well within the boundaries of what is “acceptable” to the capitalist class enemy.

We spoke with a number of activists from different groups, emphasising the vital necessity of organizing a revolutionary socialist working-class political party to break the stranglehold enjoyed by the twin parties of capital in the US’ completely undemocratic political system.

The self-described “Trotskyists” of Socialist Alternative were handing out leaflets pushing the candidacy of the phony-socialist Democrat Bernie Sanders!  We criticised this policy as basically being an outright betrayal of the working class.  SA defended their support of Sanders by claiming that since the workers were naively supporting him, and because, in SA’s analysis, Sanders is a social-democratic improvement over Hillary Clinton, SA should not discourage workers from supporting Sanders.  This is not revolutionary Trotskyism at all, but tailing after the naive political backwardness of US workers instead of leading them away from pro-capitalist candidates and in the direction of revolutionary socialism.  Sanders is a pro-capitalist candidate who has garnered financial support from the National Association of Realtors – among other sections of the US bourgeoisie.  Sanders has also come out side-by-side with Hillary in support of the US’ murderous war against the workers of Afghanistan, as well as the US’ cynical and fraudulent “War on Terror”.  Encouraging workers to vote for such a pro-capitalist, pro-war cretin as Sanders amounts to a complete betrayal of the working class and is the opposite of revolutionary Trotskyism.

The other extreme pole of the revolutionary working class party vis a vis electoral politics was represented by the RCP, whose rep stated to us that it was pointless to participate in bourgeois elections at all!  Workers should simply join the RCP and organize demonstrations.  Eventually- according to the RCP – the demonstrations will become so large that we can immediately overthrow the capitalist system!  The only problem with this concept is that it has never succeeded in the history of the world.  The revolutionary workers party must prove it will fight intransigently for the interests of the working class by leading strikes and by producing honest and self-sacrificing leaders who always uphold the highest principles of the revolutionary socialist movement – including as elected representatives of the working class in legislative bodies.

We say that a revolutionary workers party needs to utilize all methods at its disposal to organize the working class and to prepare them to overthrow capitalism.  We should participate in bourgeois elections while it is legal for us to do so, seeking non-executive elective offices only.  At the same time we must never stop pointing out to workers that revolutionary change will require more than simply electing a “socialist President”, as it has time and time again been PROVEN that the machinery of the capitalist state can not be seized and forced to work in the interests of the working class; it must be completely overhauled from top to bottom and a workers state created to completely replace it.  Marx and Lenin taught that trying to use the capitalist state machinery to defend the rights of the working class would be like trying to force a steel mill to produce baby clothing; it’s impossible!  The capitalist state was designed to defend the private property rights of the capitalist class and it cannot be reformed to promote and defend workers’ rights; the capitalist state must be “smashed” or broken up to its foundations and an entirely new workers state created in its place.  Every fake-socialist party that has ever tried to use the capitalist state machinery to defend the workers’ rights has failed and usually ends up being overthrown in a military coup and its party leaders and many of the best leaders of the trade unions executed.  One of the most tragic examples of this occurred in Chile with the fake-socialist Allende government in 1973.  The Venezuelan working class, betrayed by the “Bolivarian” fake-revolutionaries known as the “Chavistas” are today heading down the same disastrous road to defeat taken by Allende and his fake-socialist party. “Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it”.  We in the Independent Workers Party of Chicago study history so that hopefully we can prevent such a disaster from occurring to the workers of the United States and the rest of the world in the future.

To refuse to participate in bourgeois elections is to render the revolutionary workers party utterly useless to the working class from now until the time of the workers revolution.  The Bolsheviks of Lenin demonstrated very clearly how a revolutionary socialist party could utilize the bourgeois democratic system to effectively and in a principled way put forward a revolutionary socialist program.  In this way they were able to continually expose to the eyes of the workers and peasants of Russia the utter political bankruptcy of the capitalist system and its hired politicians of all stripes.

What’s the point of organizing a political party if you’re not going to participate at all in any political process except the revolution itself?  How do we get from where we are today to where we want to go?  Revolutions can’t just be pulled out of the air.  It takes years for a revolutionary party to prove to the working class that it means exactly what it says and that it will not sell out the workers in exchange for government offices.  The example set by the Bolsheviks of Lenin in the period leading up the the great Russian Revolution of 1917 is the model upon which the Independent Workers Party of Chicago is based.  We encourage all workers to read “The History of the Russian Revolution” by Leon Trotsky (who became Lenin’s right-hand man during the Russian Revolution) to see how Lenin’s Bolsheviks masterfully used bourgeois democratic processes to lead the Russian working class to understand the absolute necessity to overthrow the capitalist system – not just in Russia but throughout the entire world.  The Bolsheviks’ revolutionary socialist program never led them to present frauds like Bernie Sanders and the Democrats as “friends of the working class”, nor did it lead them into the dead end of refusing to participate in bourgeois elections.  A truly revolutionary socialist party with a truly revolutionary socialist program avoids both of these extremes easily.  That’s the kind of program Marx, Engels and Lenin created; it’s the kind of program Trotsky defended; and it’s the kind of program we aspire to base our revolutionary Trotskyist party on.  They were the best leaders the working class ever had and we’d be betraying your trust if we urged you, our working class brothers and sisters, to follow any example besides theirs!

Workers of the World, Unite!

Read the UNCENSORED Version of Rogue LAPD Cop Christopher Jordan Dorner’s Manifesto

The US Government, a wholly owned subsidiary of the US capitalist class, is always training killers to go out and defend the investments made by US capitalists around the world.  That’s because only 400 filthy rich members of the US capitalist class own 50% of the wealth in the United States, and being only .00000000000000001% of the world’s population makes them nervous for some reason.  So they have the Air Force, Navy, Army, Special Forces, CIA, National Security Agency, as well as state and local police and the judicial system and their own hired politicians running point for them.  It’s not easy to rip off 7 billion people on a daily basis and not get your ass overthrown!  But they pull it off because we let them.

As we say, the US capitalist class employs armies of highly trained killers, most of whom, unfortunately for the capitalists, are recruited from the working class and lumpenproletariat, because their own kids are being bred to rule OVER the workers, not to actually fight alongside them.   The problem with hiring members of the oppressed working class to do your killing for you is that, every once in a while, one of them decides that he or she doesn’t like the way they’ve been used and abused at the hands of the ruling class, and they go rogue.  That is what is happening right now in California as an ex-LAPD cop who “happens to be black” and who also happens to have been a very highly-trained US Navy “security” operative has decided that he’s had enough abuse at the hands of the racist, corrupt LAPD brass, and he’s set out to do something about it.

Right now, parts of Los Angeles and its surrounding suburbs are under siege as thousands of state and local cops in tactical assault gear search for this man, who has, in a campaign of revenge against the LAPD for ruining both his police and Navy careers, already allegedly shot and killed at least one cop and wounded a couple more.

Fortunately for all of us, Mr. Dorner made sure that his reasons would be known to the world by publishing an online manifesto describing in tremendous detail how he has repeatedly fought racism and police brutality in the LAPD, only to find out that the “Blue Wall of Silence” has been drawn up against him and, instead of the corrupt cops he’s turned in being fired, he was.

His manifesto is well worth reading.  A heavily censored version has been published by various capitalist news media outlets which deletes the names of the corrupt cops singled out by Mr. Dorner, as well as his long appended section which singles out organizations like “Anonymous” for praise and speaks of his love for Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Chris Mathews, Anderson Cooper, Colin Powell, Ellen DeGeneres and many, many others.  He knows that the path that he has chosen for himself leads to almost certain death.  It is not only a no-holds-barred indictment of the top-to-bottom corruption that exists in the LAPD; it is Mr. Dorner’s last will and testament.

Thanks to the fine people at youranonnews.tumblr.com, we have obtained the UNCENSORED version of Mr. Dorner’s manifesto, which we reproduce here in its entirety.  It was originally posted on an as yet unidentified (by us, anyway) website of Mr. Dorner’s which is almost certainly now non-existent.

If only there were strong working-class revolutionary parties in the United States for Mr. Dorner to join, then perhaps he would have placed his many talents at the service of the emancipation of the working class from capitalist wage-slavery.  Unfortunately, due to the inability of the US working class to create organizations impressive enough to win over men and women like Mr. Dorner to our banners, we must watch these potential leaders of the working class sacrifice themselves in misguided and unfortunate revenge campaigns like this one.

Thanks to the anons who saved this document for posterity.

[Editor’s note, 8 February: We wrote the above article after reading the widely disseminated censored version of Dorner’s manifesto and before we had the opportunity to read all of the uncensored version.  We were in great haste to place the uncensored version of Mr. Dorner’s manifesto before the public’s eye; that is why we fail to mention in the above article that in his long treatise Dorner also proclaims his love for the Navy, the Obama administration, the hideous Sen. Dianne Feinstein and states his opposition to the workers’ right to bear automatic weapons.   Though this certainly places Dorner’s philosophy at odds with our own on many subjects, we still believe that if there were workers parties in the US worthy of the name, it is quite possible that a man like Dorner might have taken quite a different path in life from the one he has chosen.  By refusing to build revolutionary workers parties that show the promise and possibility of creating a future society worthy of future generations of children, the current generation of US citizens has created the sort of despair and hopelessness that causes people like Mr. Dorner to commit desperate acts of rebellion rather than more creative ones.  He espouses the very same type of despair of the status quo ever changing that animates the suicide bombers who hurl themselves at their enemies.   It is indeed tragic that our generation has failed to create organizations capable of giving realistic hope for a better future to our sons, daughters and grandchildren.

As we write this, the US police state in Southern California is on a frantic search-and-destroy mission to kill Mr. Dorner.  In their mad pursuit of him, the police have already attacked and shot at least three unarmed civilians who the cops, in their terror-stricken panic, have “mistaken” for this 260-lb. black man, including two Hispanic women.  The fact that the US police state is a real and present reality is being brought home to millions of workers watching the manhunt on live TV.   The US police state isn’t going to be created in some future time; it is right here, right now.   The Third American Revolution has already started: it began with the passage of the Patriot Act in 2001 and continued with the legalization of torture by the US government and is being brutally prosecuted with the legalization of the US government’s assertion that it has the “right” to order the assassination of any US citizen it declares to be a “traitor”.   Giving up our right to bear automatic weapons at a time like this would be nothing less than an act of suicide for the working class.  The Third American Revolution has already begun; so far, it is the capitalist class and their cops and politicians who have fired all the shots.  The working class can begin to defend itself by organizing revolutionary workers parties to fight to overthrow the greed-based capitalist system that is the root cause of war, poverty, unemployment and the destruction of the environment of this planet.  Unless we do this, the US police state – the iceberg’s tip of which we can see operating in Southern California this week – will continue to grow nation- and world-wide until it finally triggers World War Three, ending all discussion and drowning the workers movements of the world in a sea of blood.   Now, more than ever, we say: Workers of the World, Unite – before it is too late! – IWPCHI]

I know most of you who personally know me are in disbelief to hear from media reports that I am suspected of committing such horrendous murders and have taken drastic and shocking actions in the last couple of days. You are saying to yourself that this is completely out of character of the man you knew who always wore a smile wherever he was seen. I know I will be villified by the LAPD and the media. Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil that I do not enjoy but must partake andcomplete for substantial change to occur within the LAPD and reclaim my name. The department has not changed since the Rampart and Rodney King days. It has gotten worse. The consent decree should never have been lifted. The only thing that has evolved from the consent decree is those officers involved in the Rampart scandal and Rodney King incidents have since promoted to supervisor, commanders, and command staff, and executive positions.

The question is, what would you do to clear your name?
Name;
A word or set of words by which a person, animal, place, or thing is known, addressed, or referred to.
Name Synonyms;
reputation, title, appellation, denomination, repute.
A name is more than just a noun, verb, or adjective. It’s your life, your legacy, your journey, sacrifices, and everything you’ve worked hard for every day of your life as and adolescent, young adult and adult. Don’t let anybody tarnish it when you know you’ve live up to your own set of ethics and personal ethos.
In 8/07 I reported an officer (Ofcr. Teresa Evans/now a Sergeant), for kicking a suspect (excessive force) during a Use of Force while I was assigned as a patrol officer at LAPD’s Harbor Division. While cuffing the suspect, (Christopher Gettler), Evans kicked the suspect twice in the chest and once in the face. The kick to the face left a visible injury on the left cheek below the eye. Unfortunately after reporting it to supervisors and investigated by PSB (internal affairs investigator Det. Villanueva/Gallegos), nothing was done. I had broken their supposed “Blue Line”. Unfortunately, It’s not JUST US, it’s JUSTICE!!! In fact, 10 months later on 6/25/08, after already successfully completing probation, acquiring a basic Post Certificate, and Intermediate Post Certificate, I was relieved of duty by the LAPD while assigned to patrol at Southwest division. It is clear as day that the department retaliated toward me for reporting Evans for kicking Mr. Christopher Gettler. The department stated that I had lied and made up the report that Evans had kicked the suspect. I later went to a Board of Rights (department hearing for decision of continued employment) from 10/08 to 1/09. During this BOR hearing a video was played for the BOR panel where Christopher Gettler stated that he was indeed kicked by Officer Evans (video sent to multiple news agencies). In addition to Christopher Gettler stating he was kicked, his father Richard Gettler, also stated that his son had stated he was kicked by an officer when he was arrested after being released from custody. This was all presented for the department at the BOR hearing. They still found me guilty and terminated me. What they didn’t mention was that the BOR panel made up of Capt. Phil Tingirides, Capt. Justin Eisenberg, and City Attorney Martella had a signigicant problem from the time the board was assembled. Capt. Phil Tingirides was a personal friend of Teresa Evans from when he was her supervisor at Harbor station. That is a clear conflict of interest and I made my argument for his removal early and was denied. The advocate for the LAPD BOR was Sgt. Anderson. Anderson also had a conflict of interest as she was Evans friend and former partner from Harbor division where they both worked patrol together. I made my argument for her removal when I discovered her relation to Evans and it was denied.
During the BOR, the department attempted to label me unsuccessfully as a bully. They stated that I had bullied a recruit, Abraham Schefres, in the academy when in reality and unfounded disposition from the official 1.28 formal complaint investigation found that I was the one who stood up for Abraham Schefres when other recruits sang nazi hitler youth songs about burning Jewish ghettos in WWII Germany where his father was a survivor of a concentration camp. How fucking dare you attempt to label me with such a nasty vile word. I ask that all earnest journalist investigating this story ask Ofcr. Abraham Schefres about the incident when Ofcr. Burdios began singing a nazi youth song about burning jewish ghettos.
The internal affairs investigation in the academy involving Schefres was spurned by a complaint that I had initiated toward two fellow recruit/offifcers. While on a assigned patrol footbeat in Hollywood Division, Officers Hermilio Buridios IV and Marlon Magana (both current LAPD officers) decided that they would voice their personal feelings about the black community. While traveling back to the station in a 12 passenger van I heard Magana refer to another individual as a nigger. I wasn’t sure if I heard correctly as there were many conversations in the van that was compiled of at least 8 officers and he was sitting in the very rear and me in the very front. Even with the multiple conversations and ambient noise I heard Officer Magana call an indivdual a nigger again. Now that I had confirmed it, I told Magana not to use that word again. I explained that it was a well known offensive word that should not be used by anyone. He replied, “I’ll say it when I want”. Officer Burdios, a friend of his, also stated that he would say nigger when he wanted. At that point I jumped over my front passenger seat and two other officers where I placed my hands around Burdios’ neck and squeezed. I stated to Burdios, “Don’t fucking say that”. At that point there was pushing and shoving and we were separated by several other officers. What I should have done, was put a Winchester Ranger SXT 9mm 147 grain bullet in his skull and Officer Magana’s skull. The Situation would have been resolved effective, immediately. The sad thing about this incident was that when Detective Ty from internal affairs investigated this incident only (1) officer (unknown) in the van other than myself had statements constistent with what actually happened. The other six officers (John Carey, Gary Parker, Jacob Waks, Abraham Schefres and names I have forgotten) all stated they heard nothing and saw nothing. Shame on every one of you. Shame on Detective Ty (same ethnicity as Burdios) for creating a separate 1.28 formal complaint against me (Schefres complaint) in retaliation for initiating the complaint against Burdios and Magana. Don’t retaliate against honest officers for breaking your so called blue line. I hope your son Ryan Ty, who I knew, is a better officer than you, Detective Ty.The saddest part of this ordeal was that Officer Burdios and Magana were only given 22 day suspensions and are still LAPD officers to this day. That day, the LAPD stated that it is acceptable for fellow officers to call black officers niggers to their face and you will receive a slap on the wrist. Even sadder is that during that 22 day suspension Buridios and Magana received is that the LAPPL (Los Angeles Police Protective League) paid the officers their salaries while they were suspended. When I took a two day suspension for an accidental discharge, I took my suspension and never applied for a league salary. Its called integrity.
Journalist, I want you to investigate every location I resided in growing up. Find any incidents where I was ever accused of being a bully. You won’t, because it doesn’t exist. It’s not in my DNA. Never was. I was the only black kid in each of my elementary school classes from first grade to seventh grade in junior high and any instances where I was disciplined for fighting was in response to fellow students provoking common childhood schoolyard fights, or calling me a nigger or other derogatory racial names. I grew up in neighborhoods where blacks make up less than 1%. My first recollection of racism was in the first grade at Norwalk Christian elementary school in Norwalk, CA. A fellow student, Jim Armstrong if I can recall, called me a nigger on the playground. My response was swift and non-lethal. I struck him fast and hard with a punch an kick. He cried and reported it to a teacher. The teacher reported it to the principal. The principal swatted Jim for using a derogatory word toward me. He then for some unknown reason swatted me for striking Jim in response to him calling me a nigger. He stated as good Christians we are to turn the other cheek as Jesus did. Problem is, I’m not a fucking Christian and that old book, made of fiction and limited non-fiction, called the bible, never once stated Jesus was called a nigger. How dare you swat me for standing up for my rights for demanding that I be treated as a equal human being. That day I made a life decision that i will not tolerate racial derogatory terms spoken to me. Unfortunately I was swatted multiple times for the same exact reason up until junior high. Terminating me for telling the truth of a caucasian officer kicking a mentally ill man is disgusting. Don’t ever call me a fucking bully. I want all journalist to utilize every source you have that specializes in collections for your reports. With the discovery and evidence available you will see the truth. Unfortunately, I will not be alive to see my name cleared. That’s what this is about, my name. A man is nothing without his name. Below is a list of locations where I resided from childhood to adulthood.
Cerritos, CA.
Pico Rivera, CA.
La Palma, CA.
Thousand Oaks, CA.
Cedar City, UT.
Pensacola, FL.
Enid, OK.
Yorba Linda, CA.
Las Vegas, NV.
During the BOR an officer named, Sgt. Hernandez, from Los Angeles Port Police testified on behalf of the LAPD. Hernandez stated for the BOR that he arrived at the location of the UOF shortly before I cuffed the suspect. He also stated that he assisted in cuffing the suspect and that’s old the BOR he told me to fix my tie. All of those statements were LIES!!! Hernandez, you arrived at the UOF location up to 30 seconds after I had cuffed Mr. Gettler. All you did was help me lift the suspect to his feet as it was difficult for me to do by myself because of his heavy weight. You did not tell me to fix my tie as the BOR members and everyone else in the room know you lied because the photographic evidence from the UOF scene where Gettler’s injuries were photographed clearly shows me wearing a class B uniform on that day. A class B uniform is a short sleeved uniform blouse. A short sleeved uniform blouse for the LAPD does not have a tie included. This is not Super Troopers uniform, you jackass. Why did you feel the need to embellish and lie about your involvement in the UOF? Are you ashamed that you could not get hired on by any other department other than port police? Do you have delusions of grandeur? What you did was perjury, exactly what Evans did when she stated she did not kick Christopher Gettler.
What they failed to mention in the BOR was Teresa Evans own use of force history during her career on the LAPD. She has admitted that she has a lengthy use of force record and has been flagged several times by risk management. She has a very well known nickname, Chupacabra, which she was very proud to flaunt around the division. She found it very funny and entertaining to draw blood from suspects and arrestees. At one point she even intentionally ripped the flesh off the arm of a woman we had arrested for battery (sprayed her neighbor with a garden water hose). Knowing the woman had thin elastic skin, she performed and Indian burn to the woman’s arm after cuffing her. That woman was in her mid-70′s, a mother and grandmother, and was angry at her tenants who failed to pay rent on time. Something I can completely understand and I am sure many have wanted to do toward tenants who do not pay their rent. Teresa Evans was also demoted from a senior lead officer rank/position for performance issues. During my two months of working patrol with Teresa Evans, I found her as a woman who was very angry that she had been pulled from patrol for a short time because of a domestic violence report made by Long Beach Police Department because of an incident involving her active LAPD officer boyfriend, Dominick Fuentes, and herself. Dominick Fuentes is the same officer investigated for witness tampering. She also was visibly angry on a daily basis that she was going to have to file for bankruptcy because her ex-husband, a former LAPD officer and not Dominick Fuentes, who had left the department, state, and was nowhere to be found had left her with a tax bill and debt that she was unable to pay because of a lack of financial means. Evans, you are a POS and you lied right to the BOR panel when Randy Quan asked you if you kicked Christopher Gettler. You destroyed my life and name because of your actions. Time is up. The time is now to confess to Chief Beck.
I ask that all journalist investigating this story submit request for FOIA with the LAPD to gain access to the BOR transcripts which occurred from 10/08 to 2/09. There, you will see that a video was played for the BOR members of Mr. Christopher Gettler who suffers from Schizophrenia and Dementia stating that he was kicked by a female officer. That video evidence supports my claim that Evans kicked him twice in the upper body and once in the face. I would like all journalist to also request copies of all reports that I had written while employed by LAPD. Whether in the academy, or during my 3 years as a police officer. There are DR#’s attached to each report (investigative report) that I have ever written so they all exist. A FOIA request will most likely be needed to access these at Parker center or at the Personnel/Records. Judge my writin/grammar skills for yourself. The department attempted to paint me as an officer who could not write reports. Even though Sgt. Joel Sydanmaa a training officer who trained me stated for the BOR panel that there was nothing wrong with my report writing and that I was better than all rookie/probationer officers he has ever trained. Officer David Drew stated the same but refused to testify as he did not want to “get involved” with the BOR’s. Contact Sgt. Donald Deming ,(now a Captain at Lompoc PD), Sgt. Thaddeus Faulk, and Sgt. Ed Clark. All will state that my report writing was impeccable. I will tell you this, I always type my reports because I have messy handwriting/penmanship. I never had a single kickback/redlined report at Southwest division and Sgt. Faulk and Sgt. Clark can testify to that. I never received an UNSATISFACTORY on any day or week. The same can be said within the U.S. Naval Reserves. All commanders will state that my report writing was always clear, concise, and impeccable. Even search my AAR (after action reports),chits, Memorandum’s, IIR’s (Intelligence Information Reports) which were written in the Navy. All were pristine.
I had worked patrol at LAPD’s Harbor Division from 2/06 until 7/06 when I was involuntarily recalled back to active duty (US Navy) for a 12 month mobilization/deployment to Centcom in support of OIF/OEF. I returned back to LAPD’s Harbor division on 7/07 and immediately returned to patrol. I worked at Harbor division until 11/07 where I then transferred to Southwest Division. I worked At Southwest division until 6/25/08 when I was relieved of duty.
I have exhausted all available means at obtaining my name back. I have attempted all legal court efforts within appeals at the Superior Courts and California Appellate courts. This is my last resort. The LAPD has suppressed the truth and it has now lead to deadly consequences. The LAPD’s actions have cost me my law enforcement career that began on 2/7/05 and ended on 1/2/09. They cost me my Naval career which started on 4/02 and ends on 2/13. I had a TS/SCI clearance(Top Secret Sensitive Compartmentalized Information clearance) up until shortly after my termination with LAPD. This is the highest clearance a service member can attain other than a Yankee White TS/SCI which is only granted for those working with and around the President/Vice President of the United States. I lost my position as a Commanding Officer of a Naval Security Forces reserve unit at NAS Fallon because of the LAPD. I’ve lost a relationship with my mother and sister because of the LAPD. I’ve lost a relationship with close friends because of the LAPD. In essence, I’ve lost everything because the LAPD took my name and new I was INNOCENT!!! Capt Phil Tingirides, Justin Eisenberg, Martella, Randy Quan, and Sgt. Anderson all new I was innocent but decided to terminate me so they could continue Ofcr. Teresa Evans career. I know about the meeting between all of you where Evans attorney, Rico, confessed that she kicked Christopher Gettler (excessive force). Your day has come.
I’m not an aspiring rapper, I’m not a gang member, I’m not a dope dealer, I don’t have multiple babies momma’s. I am an American by choice, I am a son, I am a brother, I am a military service member, I am a man who has lost complete faith in the system, when the system betrayed, slandered, and libeled me. I lived a good life and though not a religious man I always stuck to my own personal code of ethics, ethos and always stuck to my shoreline and true North. I didn’t need the US Navy to instill Honor, Courage, and Commitment in me but I thank them for re-enforcing it. It’s in my DNA.
Luckily I don’t have to live everyday like most of you. Concerned if the misconduct you were apart of is going to be discovered. Looking over your shoulder, scurrying at every phone call from internal affairs or from the Captains office wondering if that is the day PSB comes after you for the suspects you struck when they were cuffed months/years ago or that $500 you pocketed from the narcotics dealer, or when the other guys on your watch beat a transient nearly to death and you never reported the UOF to the supervisor. No, I don’t have that concern, I stood up for what was right but unfortunately have dealt with the reprocussions of doing the right thing and now losing my name and everything I ever stood for. You fuckers knew Evans was guilty of kicking (excessive force) Gettler and you did nothing but get rid of what you saw as the problem, the whistleblower. Gettler himself stated on video tape ( provided for the BOR and in transcripts) he was kicked and even his father stated that his son said he was kicked by Evans when he was released from custody. The video was played for the entire BOR to hear. Tingirides, Eisenberg, and Martella all heard it. You’re going to see what a whistleblower can do when you take everything from him especially his NAME!!!
Look what you did to Sgt. Gavin (now lieutenant) when he exposed the truth of your lying, racism, and PSB cover-ups to frame and convict an innocent man. You can not police yourselves and the consent decree was unsuccessful. Sgt. Gavin, I met you on the range several times as a recruit and as an officer. You’re a good man and I saw it in your eyes an actions.
Self Preservation is no longer important to me. I do not fear death as I died long ago on 1/2/09. I was told by my mother that sometimes bad things happen to good people. I refuse to accept that.
From 2/05 to 1/09 I saw some of the most vile things humans can inflict on others as a police officer in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the streets of LA. It was in the confounds of LAPD police stations and shops (cruisers). The enemy combatants in LA are not the citizens and suspects, it’s the police officers.
People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. How ironic that you utilize a fixed glass structure as your command HQ. You use as a luminous building to symbolize that you are transparent, have nothing to hide, or suppress when in essence, concealing, omitting, and obscuring is your forte.
Chief Beck, this is when you need to have that come to Jesus talk with Sgt. Teresa Evans and everyone else who was involved in the conspiracy to have me terminated for doing the right thing. you also need to speak with her attorney, Rico, and his conversation with the BOR members and her confession of guilt in kicking Mr. Gettler. I’ll be waiting for a PUBLIC response at a press conference. When the truth comes out, the killing stops.
Why didn’t you charge me with filing a false police report when I came forward stating that Evans kicked Mr. Christopher Gettler? You file criminal charges against every other officer who is accused and terminated for filing a false police report. You didn’t because you knew I was innocent and a criminal court would find me innocent and expose your department for suppressing the truth and retaliation, that’s why.
The attacks will stop when the department states the truth about my innocence, PUBLICLY!!! I will not accept any type of currency/goods in exchange for the attacks to stop, nor do i want it. I want my name back, period. There is no negotiation. I am not the state department who states they do not negotiate with terrorist, because anybody with a Secret or TS/SCI has seen IIR’s on SIPR and knows that the US state department always negotiates by using CF countries or independent sovereign/neutral country to mediate and compromising.
This department has not changed from the Daryl Gates and Mark Fuhrman days. Those officers are still employed and have all promoted to Command staff and supervisory positions. I will correct this error. Are you aware that an officer (a rookie/probationer at the time) seen on the Rodney King videotape striking Mr. King multiple times with a baton on 3/3/91 is still employed by the LAPD and is now a Captain on the police department? Captain Rolando Solano is now the commanding officer of a LAPD police station (West LA division). As a commanding officer, he is now responsible for over 200 officers. Do you trust him to enforce department policy and investigate use of force investigations on arrestees by his officers? Are you aware Evans has since promoted to Sergeant after kicking Mr. Gettler in the face. Oh, you Violated a citizens civil rights? We will promote you. Same as LAPD did with the the officers from Metro involved in the May Day melee at MacArthur Park. They promoted them to Sergeant (a supervisor role).
No one is saying you can’t be prejudiced or a bigot. We are all human and hold prejudices. If you state that you don’t have prejudices, your lying! But, when you act on it and victimize innocent citizens and fellow innocen officers, than that is a concern.
For you officers who do the job in the name of JUSTICE, those of you who lost honest officers to this event, look at the name of those on the BOR and the investigating officers from PSB and Evans and ask them, how come you couldn’t tell the truth? Why did you terminate an honest officer and cover for a dishonest officer who victimized a mentally ill citizen.
Sometimes humans feel a need to prove they are the dominant race of a species and they inadvertently take kindness for weakness from another individual. You chose wrong.
Terminating officers because they expose a culture of lying, racism (from the academy), and excessive use of force will immediately change. PSB can not police their own and that has been proven. The blue line will forever be severed and a cultural change will be implanted. You have awoken a sleeping giant.
I am here to change and make policy. The culture of LAPD versus the community and honest/good officers needs to and will change. I am here to correct and calibrate your morale compasses to true north.
Those Caucasian officers who join South Bureau divisions (77th,SW,SE, an Harbor) with the sole intent to victimize minorities who are uneducated, and unaware of criminal law, civil law, and civil rights. You prefer the South bureau because a use of force/deadly force is likely and the individual you use UOF on will likely not report it. You are a high value target.
Those Black officers in supervisory ranks and pay grades who stay in south bureau (even though you live in the valley or OC) for the sole intent of getting retribution toward subordinate caucasians officers for the pain and hostile work environment their elders inflicted on you as probationers (P-1′s) and novice P-2′s. You are a high value target. You perpetuated the cycle of racism in the department as well. You breed a new generation of bigoted caucasian officer when you belittle them and treat them unfairly.
Those Hispanic officers who victimize their own ethnicity because they are new immigrants to this country and are unaware of their civil rights. You call them wetbacks to their face and demean them in front of fellow officers of different ethnicities so that you will receive some sort of acceptance from your colleagues. I’m not impressed. Most likely, your parents or grandparents were immigrants at one time, but you have forgotten that. You are a high value target.
Those lesbian officers in supervising positions who go to work, day in day out, with the sole intent of attempting to prove your misandrist authority (not feminism) to degrade male officers. You are a high value target.
Those Asian officers who stand by and observe everything I previously mentioned other officers participate in on a daily basis but you say nothing, stand for nothing and protect nothing. Why? Because of your usual saying, ” I……don’t like conflict”. You are a high value target as well.
Those of you who “go along to get along” have no backbone and destroy the foundation of courage. You are the enablers of those who are guilty of misconduct. You are just as guilty as those who break the code of ethics and oath you swore.
Citizens/non-combatants, do not render medical aid to downed officers/enemy combatants. They would not do the same for you. They will let you bleed out just so they can brag to other officers that they had a 187 caper the other day and can’t wait to accrue the overtime in future court subpoenas. As they always say, “that’s the paramedics job…not mine”. Let the balance of loss of life take place. Sometimes a reset needs to occur.
It is endless the amount of times per week officers arrest an individual, label him a suspect-arrestee-defendant and then before arraignment or trial realize that he is innocent based on evidence. You know what they say when they realize an innocent man just had his life turned upside down?. “I guess he should have stayed at home that day he was discovered walking down the street and matching the suspects description. Oh well, he appeared to be a dirtbag anyways”. Meanwhile the falsely accused is left to pick up his life, get a new, family, friends, and sense of self worth.
Don’t honor these fallen officers/dirtbags. When your family members die, they just see you as extra overtime at a crime scene and at a perimeter. Why would you value their lives when they clearly don’t value yours or your family members lives? I’ve heard many officers who state they see dead victims as ATV’s, Waverunners, RV’s and new clothes for their kids. Why would you shed a tear for them when they in return crack a smile for your loss because of the impending extra money they will receive in their next paycheck for sitting at your loved ones crime scene of 6 hours because of the overtime they will accrue. They take photos of your loved ones recently deceased bodies with their cellphones and play a game of who has the most graphic dead body of the night with officers from other divisions. This isn’t just the 20 something year old officers, this is the 50 year old officers with significant time on the job as well who participate.
You allow an officer, Thaniya Sungruenyos, to attempt to hack into my credit union account and still remain on the job even when Det. Zolezzi shows the evidence that the IP address (provided by LAPFCU) that attempted to hack into my account and change my username and password leads directly to her residence. You even allow this visibly disgusting looking officer to stay on the job when she perjures (lies) in court (Clark County Family Court) to the judge’s face and denies hacking into my personal credit union online account when I attempted to get my restraint order extended. Det. Zolezzi provided the evidence and you still do nothing.
How do you know when a police officer is lying??? When he begins his sentence with, “based on my experience and training”.
No one grows up and wants to be a cop killer. It was against everything I’ve ever was. As a young police explorer I found my calling in life. But, As a young police officer I found that the violent suspects on the street are not the only people you have to watch. It is the officer who was hired on to the department (pre-2000) before polygraphs were standard for all new hires and an substantial vetting in a backround investigation.
To those children of the officers who are eradicated, your parent was not the individual you thought they were. As you get older, you will see the evidence that your parent was a tyrant who loss their ethos and instead followed the path of moral corruptness. They conspired to hide and suppress the truth of misconduct on others behalf’s. Your parent will have a name and plaque on the fallen officers memorial in D.C. But, In all honesty, your parents name will be a reminder to other officers to maintain the oath they swore and to stay along the shoreline that has guided them from childhood to that of a local, state, or federal law enforcement officer.
Bratton, Beck, Hayes, Tingirides, Eisenberg, Martella, Quan, Evans, Hernandez, Villanueva/Gallegos, and Anderson. Your lack of ethics and conspiring to wrong a just individual are over.
Suppressing the truth will leave to deadly consequences for you and your family. There will be an element of surprise where you work, live, eat, and sleep. I will utilize ISR at your home, workplace, and all locations in between. I will utilize OSINT to discover your residences, spouses workplaces, and children’s schools. IMINT to coordinate and plan attacks on your fixed locations. Its amazing whats on NIPR. HUMINT will be utilized to collect personal schedules of targets. I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I’m terminating yours. Quan, Anderson, Evans, and BOR members Look your wives/husbands and surviving children directly in the face and tell them the truth as to why your children are dead.
Never allow a LAPPL union attorney to be a retired LAPD Captain,(Quan). He doesn’t work for you, your interest, or your name. He works for the department, period. His job is to protect the department from civil lawsuits being filed and their best interest which is the almighty dollar. His loyalty is to the department, not his client. Even when he knowingly knows your innocent and the BOR also knows your innocent after Christopher Gettler stated on videotape that he was kicked and Evans attorney confessed to the BOR off the record that she kicked Gettler.
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants-TJ. This quote is not directed toward the US government which I fully support 100%. This is toward the LAPD who can not monitor itself. The consent decree should not have been lifted, ever.
I know your TTP’s, (techniques, tactics, and procedures). Any threat assessments you you generate will be useless. This is simple, I know your TTP’s and PPR’s. I will mitigate any of your attempts at preservation. ORM is my friend. I will mitigate all risks, threats and hazards. I assure you that Incident Command Posts will be target rich environments. KMA-367 license plate frames are great target indicators and make target selection even easier.
I will conduct DA operations to destroy, exploit and seize designated targets. If unsuccessful or unable to meet objectives in these initial small scale offensive actions, I will reassess my BDA and re-attack until objectives are met. I have nothing to lose. My personal casualty means nothing. Just alike AAF’s, ACM’s, and AIF’s, you can not prevail against an enemy combatant who has no fear of death. An enemy who embraces death is a lose, lose situation for their enemy combatants.
Hopefully you analyst have done your homework. You are aware that I have always been the top shot, highest score, an expert in rifle qualifications in every unit I’ve been in. I will utilize every bit of small arms training, demolition, ordnance, and survival training I’ve been given.
Do you know why we are unsuccessful in asymmetrical and guerrilla warfare in CENTCOM theatre of operations? I’ll tell you. It’s not the inefficiency of our combatant commanders, planning, readiness or training of troops. Much like the Vietnam war, ACM, AAF, foreign fighters, Jihadist, and JAM have nothing to lose. They embrace death as it is a way of life. I simply don’t fear it. I am the walking exigent circumstance you created.
The Violence of action will be HIGH. I am the reason TAC alert was established. I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty. ISR is my strength and your weakness. You will now live the life of the prey. Your RD’s and homes away from work will be my AO and battle space. I will utilize every tool within INT collections that I learned from NMITC in Dam Neck. You have misjudged a sleeping giant. There is no conventional threat assessment for me. JAM, New Ba’ath party, 1920 rev BGE, ACM, AAF, AQAP, AQIM and AQIZ have nothing on me. Do not deploy airships or gunships. SA-7 Manpads will be waiting. As you know I also own Barrett .50′s so your APC are defunct and futile.
You better have all your officers radio/phone muster (code 1) on or off duty every hour, on the hour.
Do not attempt to shadow or conduct any type of ISR on me. I have the inventory listing of all UC vehicles at Piper Tech and the home addresses of any INT analyst at JRIC and detachment locations. My POA is always POI and always true. This will be a war of attrition and a Pyrrhic and Camdean Victory for myself. You may have the resources and manpower but you are reactive and predictable in your op plans and TTP’s. I have the strength and benefits of being unpredictable, unconventional, and unforgiving. Do not waste your time with briefs and tabletops.
Whatever pre-planned responses you have established for a scenario like me, shelve it. Whatever contingency plan you have, shelve it. Whatever tertiary plan you’ve created, shelve it. I am a walking exigent circumstance with no OFF or reset button. JRIC, DOJ, LASD, FBI and other local LE can’t assist and should not involve themselves in a matter that does not concern them. For all other agencies, do not involve yourself in this capture or recovery of me. Look at the big picture of the situation. They (LAPD) created the situation. I will harm no outside agency unless it is a deadly force/IDOL situation. With today’s budgeting and fiscal mess, you guys can not afford lose several officers to IOD or KIA/EOW. Plus, other officers should not have to take on the additional duties and responsibilities of dead officers. Think about their families, outside agencies, Chiefs/Directors.
Outside agencies and individual officers on patrol. If you recognize my vehicle, and confirm it is my vehicle thru a dmv/want warrant check. It behoves you to respond to dispatch that your query was for information purposes only. If you proceed with a traffic stop or attempt to notify other officers of my location or for backup you will not live to see the medal of valor you were hoping to receive for your actions. Think before you attempt to intervene. You will not survive. Your family will receive that medal of valor posthumously. It will gather dust on the fireplace mantel for years. Then one day, it will go in a shoe box with other memories. Your mother will lose a son or daughter. Your significant other will be left alone, but they will find someone else to fill your void in the future and make them just as happy. Your children, if you have them, will call someone else mommy or daddy. Don’t be selfish. Your vest is only a level II or IIIA, think about it.
No amount of IMINT, MASINT, and ELINT assist you in capturing me. I am off the grid. You better use your feet, tongue and every available DOD/ NON-DOD HUMINT agency, contractor to find me. I know your route to and from home, and your division. I know your significant others routine, your children’s best friends and recess. I know Your Sancha’s gym hours and routine. I assure you that the casualty rate will be high. Because of that, no one will remember your name. You will merely be a DR# and “that guy” who was KIA/EOW or long term IOD/light duty in the kit room. This is exactly why “station 500″ was created. Unfortunately, orphanages will be making a comeback in the 21st century.
If you had a well regulated AWB, this would not happen. The time is now to reinstitute a ban that will save lives. Why does any sportsman need a 30 round magazine for hunting? Why does anyone need a suppressor? Why does anyone need a AR15 rifle? This is the same small arms weapons system utilized in eradicating Al Qaeda, Taliban, and every enemy combatant since the Vietnam war. Don’t give me that crap that its not a select fire or full auto rifle like the DoD uses. That’s bullshit because troops who carry the M-4/M-16 weapon system for combat ops outside the wire rarely utilize the select fire function when in contact with enemy combatants. The use of select fire probably isn’t even 1% in combat. So in essence, the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle is the same as the M-4/M-16. These do not need to be purchased as easily as walking to your local Walmart or striking the enter key on your keyboard to “add to cart”. All the firearms utilized in my activities are registered to me and were legally purchased at gun stores and private party transfers. All concealable weapons (pistols) were also legally register in my name at police stations or FFL’s. Unfortunately, are you aware that I obtained class III weapons (suppressors) without a background check thru NICS or DROS completely LEGALLY several times? I was able to use a trust account that I created on quicken will maker and a $10 notary charge at a mailbox etc. to obtain them legally. Granted, I am not a felon, nor have a DV misdemeanor conviction or active TRO against me on a NCIC file. I can buy any firearm I want, but should I be able to purchase these class III weapons (SBR’s, and suppressors) without a background check and just a $10 notary signature on a quicken will maker program? The answer is NO. I’m not even a resident of the state i purchased them in. Lock n Load just wanted money so they allow you to purchase class III weapons with just a notarized trust, military ID. Shame on you, Lock n Load. NFA and ATF need new laws and policies that do not allow loopholes such as this. In the end, I hope that you will realize that the small arms I utilize should not be accessed with the ease that I obtained them. Who in there right mind needs a fucking silencer!!! who needs a freaking SBR AR15? No one. No more Virginia Tech, Columbine HS, Wisconsin temple, Aurora theatre, Portland malls, Tucson rally, Newtown Sandy Hook. Whether by executive order or thru a bi-partisan congress an assault weapons ban needs to be re-instituted. Period!!!
Mia Farrow said it best. “Gun control is no longer debatable, it’s not a conversation, its a moral mandate.”
Sen. Feinstein, you are doing the right thing in leading the re-institution of a national AWB. Never again should any public official state that their prayers and thoughts are with the family. That has become cliche’ and meaningless. Its time for action. Let this be your legacy that you bestow to America. Do not be swayed by obstacles, antagaonist, and naysayers. Remember the innocent children at Austin, Kent, Stockton, Fullerton, San Diego, Iowa City, Jonesboro, Columbine, Nickel Mines, Blacksburg, Springfield, Red Lake, Chardon, Aurora, and Newtown. Make sure this never happens again!!!
In my cache you will find several small arms. In the cache, Bushmaster firearms, Remington precision rifles, and AAC Suppressors (silencers). All of these small arms are manufactured by Cerberus/Freedom Group. The same company responsible for the Portland mall shooting, Webster , NY, and Sandy Hook massacre.
You disrespect the office of the POTUS/Presidency and Commander in Chief. You call him Kenyan, mongroid, halfrican, muslim, and FBHO when in essence you are to address him as simply, President. The same as you did to President George W. Bush and all those in the highest ranking position of our land before him. Just as I always have. You question his birth certificate, his educational and professional accomplishments, and his judeo-christian beliefs. You make disparaging remarks about his dead parents. You never questioned the fact that his former opponent, the honorable Senator John McCain, was not born in the CONUS or that Bush had a C average in his undergrad. Electoral Candidates children (Romney) state they want to punch the president in the face during debates with no formal repercussions. No one even questioned the fact that the son just made a criminal threat toward the President. You call his wife a Wookie. Off the record, I love your new bangs, Mrs. Obama. A woman whose professional and educational accomplishments are second to none when compared to recent First wives. You call his supporters, whether black, brown, yellow, or white, leeches, FSA, welfare recipients, and ni$&er lovers. You say this openly without any discretion. Before you start with your argument that you believe I would vote for Obama because he has the same skin color as me, fuck you. I didn’t vote in this last election as my choice of candidate, John Huntsman, didn’t win the primary candidacy for his party. Mr. President, I haven’t agreed with all of your decisions but of course I haven’t agreed with all of your predecessors decisions. I think you’ve done a hell of a job with what you have been dealt and how you have managed it. I shed a tear the night you were initially elected President in 2008. I never thought that day would occur. A black man elected president in the U.S. in my lifetime. I cracked a smiled when you were re-elected in 2012 because I really didn’t think you were going to pull that one off. Romney, stop being a sore loser. You could’ve exited graciously and still contributed significantly to public service, not now. Mr. President, get back to work. Many want to see you fail as they have stated so many times previously. Unfortunately, if you fail, the U.S. fails but your opponents do not concern themselves about the big picture. Do not forget your commitment to transparency in your administration. Sometimes I believe your administration forgets that. America, you will realize today and tomorrow that this world is made up of all human beings who have the same general needs and wants in life for themselves, their kin, community, and state. That is the freedom to LIVE and LOVE. They may eat different foods, enjoy different music, have different dialects, or speak a second language, but in essence are no different from you and I. This is America. We are not a perfect sovereign country as we have our own flaws but we are the closest that will ever exist.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time an authoritative figure has lied on me.
Mr. Freid, assistant principal, Cypress HS. Remember when you lied to my mother and the police officer in your office about stating that you never stated to me in a private conversation that you know the theft suspect (Miranda) stole my watch. Let me refresh your memory. A physical education teachers assistant, a student, stole the list of combination codes to peoples lockers, from the P.E. teacher. That student then opened many of those lockers and stole students personal property. My watch was taken in that multi theft an I reported it to you. A week later you discovered that the theft suspect was Paul Miranda, a student. You stated to me in private that you know for a fact he stole my property. When I attempted to retrieve my property from the suspect. Campus security was called and you lied and stated that you never stated to me that you “know he stole my watch”. You sat there and lied to their faces right in front of me. You said it with such a deliberate, stern face. I never forgot that and was not surprised when 13 years later I was lied on again in the BOR by Teresa Evans. maybe you can confess to your family at the very least in the private of your own home. After that, contact my mother and apologize for lying to her in 1996.
If possible, I want my brain preserved for science/research to study the effects of severe depression on an individual’s brain. Since 6/26/08 when I was relieved of duty and 1/2/09 when I was terminated I have been afflicted with severe depression. I’ve had two CT scans during my lifetime that are in my medical record at Kaiser Permanente. Both are from concussions resulting from playing football. The first one was in high school, 10/96. The second was in college and occurred in 10/99. Both were conducted at Kaiser Permanente hospitals in LA/Orange county. These two CT scans should give a good baseline for my brain activity before severe depression began in late 2008.
Sure, many of you “law enforcement experts and specialist” will state, “in all my years this is the worst……..”, Stop!!! That’s not important. Ask yourselves what would cause somebody to take these drastic measures like I did. That’s what is important.
To my friends listed below, I wish we could have grown old together and spent more time together. When you reminisce of our friendship and experiences, think of that and that only. Do not dwell on my recent actions the last few days. This was a necessary evil that had to be executed in order for me to obtain my NAME back. The only thing that changes policy and garners attention is death.
Luis Sanchez, greatest friend, Marine officer, aviator, and an even better father and husband. I Couldn’t have had a better big brother than you. Your spoken wisdom was always retained by me, you old salty Mustang. You sternly told me that no matter what I accomplish I will always be a ni#%er in many individuals eyes. At the time, I did not comprehend your words. I do now. I never forgot the quote you state below. I love you bro.
I never saw a wild thing feel sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever feeling sorry for itself. –D.H. Lawrence
Jason Valadao, greatest friend, Naval officer, aviator, Great Father, husband, doctor, and even better human being. I always strived to live my life parallel to your similar values and personal disciplines. Danika is lucky to have found a man like yourself, and you are fortunate to have married an irrefutable imperfect woman. Always focus on your IMMEDIATE family as they are the ones who have loved you unconditionally and always been their to support you in difficult times. I always lived my life as WWJD (what would Jason do). Danika, take care of this guy. Jason, I’m sorry I missed your wedding and you had to find another best man. I’m sorry my predicament with the department stopped me from watching you and Danika get married and arguing with you about issues that were insignificant when I was really angry at the LAPD for what they did to me. I’m deeply sorry and I love you guys.
James Usera, great friend, attorney, father, husband, and the most cynical/blatant/politically incorrect friend a man can have. Best quality about you in college and now is that you never sugar coated the truth. I will miss our political discussions that always turned argumentative. Thanks for introducing me to outdoor sports like fishing, hunting, mudding, and also respect for the land and resources. Us city boys don’t get out much like you Alaskans. You even introduced me to PBR. A beer, that when you’re a poor college student is completely acceptable to get buzzed off of. I’m sorry I’ll never get to go on that moose and bear hunt with you. I love you bro.
Kinta Smith, greatest friend, accountant, entrepreneur, and even better Human being. You are probably the most well balanced person I’ve ever met and the most driven for success. In college, and after graduation, I was inspired by your personal drive. Never settle. When you make your first million, promise me you won’t forget to enjoy it a bit. I know your first reaction will be to invest it somewhere else. Spend a little, just a little. I love you bro.
Jason Young, great friend, entrepeneur, husband and father. You showed me the importance of fatherhood and friendship. Love you bro.
Suzie Clark Cunningham, Kassandra Harrell, Melinda Yates, Cal Jackson, Ryan Smith, The Rebelledos, The Banks, Ben Bines, J. Work, Bill O’neill, Jeremy Fletcher, and Rob Harriston.
You guys were all important and very special to me. Don’t be angry with me. I missed some of your weddings and unfortunately, some of your funerals. This was a necessary evil.
Some say it is my fault that I was terminated. Yes, DDX, I remember you stating this to me in an angry fit. You said that I should have kept my mouth shut about another officer’s misconduct. Maybe you were right. But I’m not built like others, it’s not in my DNA and my history has always shown that. When you view the video of the suspect stating he was kicked by Evans, maybe you will see that I was a decent person after all. I told the truth. It still hurt that you abandoned me in my time of need. I hope you’re happy, that’s all I ever wanted for you.
Sgt. Leonard Perez, you meant well but you should have known with your time on the job that the department would attempt to protect someone like Evans because of her time on the job, personal friendships, and ethicity. I’m not angry with you, but you should have known as an IA investigator.
Sgt Maggie Faust LPPD, Ofcr John Thomas LPPD (ret), and Chief Eric Nunez LPPD, your guidance and mentoring as a young police explorer was second to none and invaluable as a young man, police officer, and naval officer. Sgt Faust, you forewarned me long ago about joining LAPD as they were “different” and operated differently from other modern law enforcement agencies. I now know it was your humbleness and respect for all who wear the badge and protect their communities that you didn’t just express what you wanted to say, that they lack values and basic ethics as law enforcement officers. Chief Nunez, your fucking awesome. Thanks for the long talks over the years when I was an explorer, college student, Naval officer, and Police officer. Your are a great leader and carry your heart on your sleeve. Your son will be a great Air Force officer with the upringing you provided. John, what can I say? Your just an awesome person and my first exposure to what law enforcement was really about was on our ride alongs. Your realistic approach and empathetic approach to treating all people as humans first is something I carried with me daily. Thank you, every one of you.
Dr. Funahashi, thank you for the superb surgery you performed on my knee on 7/98 in Irvine, CA. I never had the opportunity to thank you for allowing me to live a life free of knee joint pain. Thank you.
CM1 Bissett (Ret.), I learned more from you about leadership than most of my own commanders. You lived by a strict ethos of get it done, and get it done right. I wanted to attend your retirement, I really did. But because of my predicament I was unable to. Hope you and Ritchie are still together. I’ve always held you in high regard.
Sgt Maj. Kenneth “Rock” Rocquemore USMC, Thank you for the intense instruction and mentorship and time spent forging me into a never quit officer. You were challenging as a DI. You made sure the vicious and intense personality I possess was discovered. On a lighter note….Don’t feel humbled you never broke me. I made it a personal goal to never give up years before. The Corp is lucky to have you at the front. Your leadership is essential and needed for all marines, especially staff NCO’s and mentorship and advisement to company grade officers. You are the epitome of a US marine and never forget that.
I thank my friends for the awesome shared experiences. I thank the unnamed women I dated over my lifetime for the great and sometimes not so great sex.
It’s kind of sad I won’t be around to view and enjoy The Hangover III. What an awesome trilogy. Todd Phillips, don’t make anymore Hangovers after the third, takes away the originality of its foundation. World War Z looks good and The Walking Dead season 3 (second half) looked intriguing. Damn, gonna miss shark week.
Mr. Vice President, do your due diligence when formulating a concise and permanent national AWB plan. Future generations of Americans depend on your plan and advisement to the president. I’ve always been a fan of yours and consider you one of the few genuine and charismatic politicians. Damn, sounds like an oxymoron calling you an honest politician. It’s the truth.
Hillary Clinton. You’ll make one hell of a president in 2016. Much like your husband, Bill, you will be one of the greatest. Look at Castro in San Antonio as a running mate or possible secretary of state. He’s (good people) and I have faith and confidence in him. Look after Bill. He was always my favorite President. Chelsea grew up to be one hell of an attractive woman. No disrespect to her husband.
Gov. Chris Christie. What can I say? You’re the only person I would like to see in the White House in 2016 other than Hillary. You’re America’s no shit taking uncle. Do one thing for your wife, kids, and supporters. Start walking at night and eat a little less, not a lot less, just a little. We want to see you around for a long time. Your leadership is greatly needed.
Wayne LaPierre, President of the NRA, you’re a vile and inhumane piece of shit. You never even showed 30 seconds of empathy for the children, teachers, and families of Sandy Hook. You deflected any type of blame/responsibility and directed it toward the influence of movies and the media. You are a failure of a human being. May all of your immediate and distant family die horrific deaths in front of you.
Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, Pat Harvey, Brian Williams, Soledad Obrien, Wolf Blitzer, Meredith Viera, Tavis Smiley, and Anderson Cooper, keep up the great work and follow Cronkite’s lead. I hold many of you in the same regard as Tom Brokaw and the late Peter Jennings. Cooper, stop nagging and berating your guest, they’re your (guest). Mr. Scarborough, we met at McGuire’s pub in P-cola in 2002 when I was stationed there. It was an honor conversing with you about politics, family, and life.
Willie Geist, you’re a talented and charismatic journalist. Stop with all the talk show shenanigans and get back to your core of reporting. Your future is brighter than most.
Revoke the citizenship of Fareed Zakaria and deport him. I’ve never heard a positive word about America or its interest from his mouth, ever. On the same day, give Piers Morgan an indefinite resident alien and Visa card. Mr. Morgan, the problem that many American gun owners have with you and your continuous discussion of gun control is that you are not an American citizen and have an accent that is distinct and clarifies that you are a foreigner. I want you to know that I agree with you 100% on enacting stricter firearm laws but you must understand that your critics will always have in the back of their mind that you are native to a country that we won our sovereignty from while using firearms as a last resort in defense and you come from a country that has no legal private ownership of firearms. That is disheartening to American gun owners and rightfully so.
The honorable President George H.W. Bush, they never give you enough credit for your successful Presidency. You were always one of my favorite Presidents (2nd favorite). I hope your health improves greatly. You are the epitome of an American and service to country.
General Petraeus, you made a mistake that the majority of men make once, twice, or unfortunately many times in a lifetime. You are human. You thought with your penis. It’s okay.I personally believe you should have never resigned and told your critics to shove it. You only answer to two people regarding the affair, your wife and children, period. I hope you return to government service to your country as it is visibly in your DNA.
General Colin Powell, your book “My American Journey” solidified my decision to join the military after college. I had always intended to serve, but your book and journey motivated me. You are an inspiration to all Americans and influenced me greatly.
To all SEA’s (senior enlisted advisers), you are just as important if not a greater viability to large and small commands. It’s time you take a more active role in leading your enlisted and advising officers. These are not your twilight years or time to relax. You can either strengthen the tip of the spear, or make it brittle. You decide.
Pat Harvey, I’ve always thought you carried yourself professionally and personally the way a strong black woman should. Your articulation and speech is second to none. You are the epitome of a journalist/anchor. You are America.
Ellen Degeneres, continue your excellent contribution to entertaining America and bringing the human factor to entertainment. You changed the perception of your gay community and how we as Americans view the LGBT community. I congratulate you on your success and opening my eyes as a young adult, and my generation to the fact that you are know different from us other than who you choose to love. Oh, and you Prop 8 supporters, why the fuck do you care who your neighbor marries. Hypocritical pieces of shit.
Westboro Baptist Church, may you all burn slowly in a fire, not from smoke inhalation, but from the flames and only the flames.
Tebow, I really wanted to see you take charge of an offense again and the game. You are not a good QB by todays standards, but you are a great football player who knows how to lead a team and WIN. You will be “Tebowing” when you reach your next team. I have faith in you. Get out of that circus they call the Jets and away from the reality TV star, Rex Ryan, and Mark Rapist Sanchez.
Christopher Walz, you impressed me in Inglorious Basterds. After viewing Django Unchained, I was sold. I have come to the conclusion that you are well on your way to becoming one of the greats if not already and show glimpses of Daniel Day Lewis and Morgan Freeman-esque type qualities of greatness. Trust me when I say that you will be one of the greatest ever.
Jennifer Beals, Serena Williams, Grae Drake, Lisa Nicole-Carson, Diana Taurasi, N’bushe Wright, Brenda Villa, Kate Winslet, Ashley Graham, Erika Christensen, Gabrielle Union, Isabella Soprano, Zain Verjee, Tamron Hall, Gina Carano, America Ferrara, Giana Michaels, Nene, Natalie Portman, Queen Latifah, Michelle Rodriguez, Anjelah Johnson, Kelly Clarkson, Nora Jones, Laura Prepon, Margaret Cho, and Rutina Wesley, you are THE MOST beautiful women on this planet, period. Never settle, professionally or personally.
Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five” is the greatest piece of music ever, period. Hanz Zimmer, William Bell, Eric Clapton, BB King, Bob Marley, Sam Cooke, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Nora Jones, Marvin Gaye, Jay-Z, and the King (Louis Armstrong) are musical prodigies.
Jeffrey Toobin and David Gergen, you are political geniuses and modern scholars. Hopefully Toobin is nominated for the Supreme Court and implements some damn common sense and reasoning instead of partisan bickering. But in true Toobin fashion, we all know he would not accept the nomination.
,
John and Ken from KFI, never mute your facts and personal opinions. You are one of the few media personalities who speak the truth, even when the truth is not popular. I will miss listening to your discussions.
Bill Handel, your effin awesome. For years I enjoyed your show.
Anthony Bourdain, you’re a modern renaissance man who epitomizes the saying “too cool for school”.
Larry David, Kevin Hart, the late Patrice Oneal, Lisa Lampanelli, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Louis CK, Dave Chapelle, Jon Stewart, Wanda Sykes, Dennis Miller, and Jeff Ross are pure geniuses. I’m a big fan of all of your work. As a child my mom caught me watching Def Jam comedy at midnight when I should have been asleep. Instead of scolding me, the next night she let me stay up late and watch George Carlin, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor comedy specials with her for hours. My sides were sore for days.
Larry David, I agree. 72-82 degrees is way to hot in a residence. 68 , degrees is perfect.
Cyclist, I have no problem sharing the road with you. But, at least go the fucking speed limit posted or get off the road!!! That is a feasible request. Livestrong you fraudulent assholes.
Cardinal Mahoney, you are in essence a predator yourself as you enabled your subordinates to molest multiple children in the church over many decades. May you die a long and slow painful death.
If you continuously followed me while I was walking at dusk/night I would confront you as well. Too bad Trayvon didn’t smash your skull completely open, Zim. While Trayvon’s body erodes to bones 6 feet under, Zimmerman has put on no less than 40 pounds while out on bail. Zimmerman was arrested for battery on a Peace officer and avoided jail/prison because he completed a diversion program. Thats a history of being an asshole. Zimmerman couldn’t get hired by a LE agency because of poor credit/and a history of violence/restraining orders with women. So what does he do? Designate himself, neighborhood watch captain and make complaints to his city council about the horrible work ethic and laziness of the officers patrolling his neighborhood. Good one Zim. How classy that your father attempts to use his veterans status “disabled veteran” during your bail hearing but doesn’t state what his disability percentage is. Prior service personnel know it can be 5% disability to 100%. You and your attorneys always avoid mentioning your fathers occupation as a magistrate/judge because I’m sure he’s utilized his position to get you out of way more jams then the public has discovered and that your family is not indigent. Oh, tell your wife to stop perjuring herself in court.
KCCO
Anonymous, you are hated, vilified, and considered an enemy to the state. I personally view you as a culture and a necessity that brings truth to a cloaked world. Forge ahead!
Charlie Sheen, you’re effin awesome.
My opinion on women in combat MOS’, Designators, Rates, and AFSC’s. I wish all of you who attempt to pursue combat occupational roles the greatest success in completing, graduating, and qualifying in their respective schools/courses. Many want to see you fail. Remember, everyone of you is a pioneer. There was a time when they didn’t allow blacks to fight the good fight. This is your civil rights. Don’t quit!!!
It’s time to allow gay service member’s spouses to utilize the same benefits that all heterosexual dependents are eligible for. Medical, Dental, Tricare, Deers, SGLI, BX, Commissary, Milstar, MWR, etc. Flag officers, lets be honest. You can’t really give a valid argument to as why gays shouldn’t be eligible as every month a new state enacts laws that allow same sex marriage.
LGBT community and supporters, the same way you have the right to voice your opinion on acceptance of gay marriage, Chick Fil-A has a right to voice their beliefs as well. That’s what makes America so great. Freedom of expression. Don’t be assholes and boycott/degrade their business and customers who patronize the locations. They make some damn good chicken! Vandalizing (graffiti) their locations does not help any cause.
Mr. Bill Cosby, you are a reasonable and talented man who has spoken the truth of the cultural anomalies within the black communities that need to change now. The black communities’ resentment toward you is because they don’t like hearing the truth or having their clear and evident dirty laundry aired to the nation. The problem is, the country is not blind nor dumb. They believe we are animals. Do not mute your unvarnished truthful speech or moral compass. Blacks must strive for more in life than bling, hoes, and cars. The current culture is an epidemic that leaves them with no discernible future. They’re suffocating and don’t even know it. MLK Jr. Would be mortified at what he worked so hard for in our acceptance as equal beings and how unfortunately we stopped progressing and began digressing. Chicago’s youth violence is a prime example of how our black communities values have declined. We can not address this nation’s intolerant issues until we address our own communities morality issues first. Accountability. We need to hold ou”

Chicago Teachers: The Fraternal Order of Police are Not Friends of Labor or of the Working Class!

The IWP proudly  attended this Monday’s labor rally in support of the Chicago Teachers’ Union.  However, we were – how do we put this? – not at all surprised and quite disgusted at the fondness CTU President Karen Lewis displayed for the head honcho of the Chicago Police Union President, Mike Shields.  In fact, she was downright chummy with him, high-fiving the man who routinely defends all kinds of police brutality of working class citizens of Chicago.  President Lewis even gave FOP Boss Shields a great big hug in front of the 18,000 assembled representatives of Chicago’s working class!

We’ve stated before that we do not trust the pro-capitalist, pro-Democratic party trade union leadership of the Chicago Teachers Union to effectively lead the union in a strike against their own best friends.  And now we can add to our distrust the obvious fact that Karen Lewis can’t tell the difference between a friend of her own union and a mortal enemy!

Here we have seen that, on the very eve of what should be a major class battle between the Chicago Teachers Union and the Democratic Party leaders of Chicago – a battle on behalf of the rights of children of every member of the working class who lives in Chicago to a top-quality, free, public school education – not only does the “General” leading the working class into this battle not know the difference between her own forces and those of the enemy class – she actually embraces the leader of the very shock troops that the enemy intends to use to smash the picket lines of her own union soldiers!

By so fulsomely embracing the leader of the Chicago Police Union, Karen Lewis – has effectively attempted to spread the deadly lie that the Chicago Police can be counted on to defend the rights of the members of the Chicago Teachers Union to go on strike and to defend their picket lines.  By doing this, Karen Lewis shows that she is not the side of the workers, but on the side of the capitalist class, and in the final analysis can be expected to bow down to the dictates of that ruling class and its bought-and-paid-for Democratic politicians and judges who will do everything in their power to smash the Chicago Teachers Union if they go out on strike.  And on top of that, by expressing her confidence in the leadership of the racist Chicago Police Department to defend the rights of workers, Karen Lewis is leading her union’s membership into a deadly trap – because the Chicago Police are not friends of the working class, but constitute a “special body of armed men and women” who are dedicated to the defense of capitalist private property, and who take orders from the capitalist class – and no one else!

Karen Lewis has already betrayed her union by embracing a man who leads an organization that is responsible for the daily brutalization of black, Hispanic and all other workers and youth all over the city.  The Fraternal Order of Police has defended every single instance of police torture and every single police shooting of suspects, “armed” and unarmed.  Their members are going out daily and beating, humiliating and imprisoning people of color all over the city.  They routinely shoot to death suspects and then plant guns on them to cover up their crimes.  They have been recently charged with the widespread use of stun guns to torture unarmed suspects – the overwhelming majority of whom “happen to be black”.   They defend racist Chicago Police Department in all cases except when it comes to their pay and benefits.  The Fraternal Order of Police are no more a “workers union” because they pretend to be one than Hitler’s “National Socialists” were Marxists because they lied to the workers by including the word “Socialists” in their party’s name!

Every schoolchild who has read even just a few lines of the works of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels knows that the police are not the friends of the working class.  Every worker in the world who has ever walked a picket line knows this!  On a picket line, you will see the class line clearly delineated:  on the one side are the workers and their unions and the socialists who defend the unions; on the other side are the capitalist class, their lying news media, politicians, their courts and their  SPECIAL BODIES OF ARMED MEN AND WOMEN who will enforce the laws of the capitalist system – by any means necessary!  These special bodies of armed men and women can be expected to ALWAYS attack the workers and ALWAYS defend the capitalist system and its status quo, not because they are necessarily all depraved individuals, but because that is the role of the police in a capitalist society.

It is true that in the past 30 years, with a relative absence of class struggle in the United States – thanks in very large part to the sellout pro-capitalist trade and labor union bureaucracy of the AFL-CIO – the class lines have been blurred to such a degree that it is quite astounding to anyone familiar with the normal order of things.  It has been so long since the class line was clearly drawn in this country that people on both sides of the class divide are confused as to what the calss line is, where it is, and what their relationship to it is.  Workers who have never in their lives been beaten down by the cops on a picket line labor under the delusion that the cops are their friends.  likewise, there are some cops who have never had to attack a picket line, and so they are deluded into believing that they are part of the workers movement.  believe us, as soon as some serious class struggle takes place in this country, both groups will have their delusions cruelly destroyed in front of their very eyes. The so-called “decent” cops are going to have to choose between obeying orders and obeying their conscience.  The “decent” ones will have to quit the police force or will quickly find themselves kicked ass-backwards off the force for refusing to “do their job”.

No US trade union leader of the 1930s would be so foolish as to expect the police to defend union picket lines.  The history of the Chicago Police – like every other big city police department in the capitalist world –  is replete with instances of savage brutality against workers organizations.  The world-renowned Haymarket battle took place the day after the Chicago Police gunned down a number of workers picketing the McCormick Harvester plant in the city.   During the “Haymarket” battle, the police opened fire on the peaceably assembled workers and shot a dozen to death and wounded an unknown number of others, and in the next days and weeks attacked and destroyed the headquarters of every single trade union and pro-worker socialist and anarchist organization in Chicago and beat and arrested workers leaders on the flimsiest charges imaginable.  They howled for the blood or the workers leaders to be shed in retaliation for the killing of a handful of cops by a dynamite bomb that was hurled by an unknown assailant at the Haymarket, until they got their demands and 4 innocent men were murdered by the State of Illinois to assuage their blood-lust.

The Haymarket Martyrs’ Memorial

The Memorial Day Massacre, May 30, 1937, south side of Chicago. The “heroes” of the Chicago Police Department open fire on retreating steel workers, shooting them in the back at pointblank range.

The Chicago Police were once also infamous for the shooting down of unarmed men women and children during the Little Steel strike in 1937.  They opened fire on unarmed strikers who were fighting to unionize the Republic Steel plant on the south side.  Today’s labor sellouts don’t even bother to commemorate these police murders of unionists in Chicago – they are too busy making friends with them and trying to erase the memory of these notorious examples of the “impartiality” of the police from the memories of the working class!

It would make us look foolish to stand here and remind the black and Hispanic workers of Chicago about the brutality of these “friends of labor” in blue!  Cook County Jail is full of the victims of police frame-ups and police brutality.  That a so-called “labor leader” would dare to stand in a public square and declare the Chicago Police to be her friends gives a perfect example of why the union membership is on the decline even here in this proud union town of Chicago.  With workers “leaders” like this, who needs enemies?  Need we remind you of the involvement of the Chicago Police in the murder of Fred Hampton?

The scene of the murder of Black Panther leader Fred Hampton, slaughtered by the Chicago Police. Democratic Party States Attorney Ed Hanrahan and the FBI and their friends on the Chicago Police had an informer drug Hampton and then they murdered him as he slept.

Must we go over again with Ms. Lewis the history of the Chicago Police Riot in 1968 at the Democratic National Convention, during which hundreds of protestors and news media representatives were brutally beaten by Mayor Daley’s racist cops?

Chicago Police “protecting the rights of demonstrators” in Grant Park, 1968.

Should we remind her that a popular T-shirt worn by Chicago Police officers during the Democratic Party National Convention in 1996 read: “We kicked your dad’s ass in 1968: wait ’til you see what we’ll do to you”.  The guy who printed them here in Chicago reportedly sold hundreds of them to Chicago cops – and Democratic Party politicians.

Shall we go into the story of the Chicago Police Department’s torture of African-American men into “confessing” to crimes they never committed?  Shall we describe how Jon Burge, a Chicago Police Commander, created a team of torturers who used electric shocks and suffocation techniques to extract false confessions?

Or that dozens of men were framed in that way and sent to prison for years, even decades, even to Death Row?

Perhaps Karen Lewis would like to  ask the members of Nurses United about the way the Chicago Police “defended their right to protest” just last year at the Occupy Chicago demonstration in Grant Park?

Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis has shown everyone with eyes to see – her true colors by embracing the leader of the Fraternal Order of Police and by portraying the Chicago Police as “friends of labor”.   You don’t tell a lie this big by accident.  “By her friends shall ye know her”!

Militant Class Struggle in India: Workers Strike For Pay, and Respect

In the past week we have come across several articles describing the fight for workers rights in India.  In the interest of enabling our readers and workers all over the world to compare strike tactics and learn what works and what doesn’t, we will always endeavor to present accounts of workers struggles wherever they occur.  We intend to show workers, especially here in the US, that, contrary to the lies spread incessantly by the pro-capitalist trade union leaders of the AFL-CIO unions, it is indeed possible to utilize the “old methods” of building picket lines that scabs can only cross at risk to life and limb – and by doing so, to actually win strikes.

Picket lines that allow scabs to cross them with impunity might as well not be set up in the first place.  The whole idea of setting up a picket line is to prevent the company from continuing to operate its business at all.  The question of who actually “owns” the plant is brought to the fore in every strike action – we say that it is the workers who should take ownership of all the factories and kick the capitalists out forever by overthrowing the capitalist system itself, thus eliminating the exploitation of the working class by the tiny minority of rich capitalists.  All the wealth used to build every factory has been obtained in the final analysis by the capitalists’ expropriation of the fruits of the labor of workers somewhere.  That is how “capital” is produced in a modern capitalist economy like the US.  When workers go on strike, their aim must be to halt production at the struck factories completely.  Anything less than that allows the capitalists to continue to fill orders and make profits.  The most successful picket line is one that shuts down a factory 100%.  This means physically preventing scabs, materials and supervisors – and yes, cops – from seizing the plant so that production can be restarted.   The abandonment of militant strike action, in which the laws that protect private property must be broken repeatedly and wantonly if the strike is to be won, has hamstrung every single class battle in the US for decades.  The workers of the US must return to the militant tactics of the 1930s if they want to win strikes – anything less will lead to defeat, as all recent strikes show – including the current Caterpillar strike in Joliet, IL,  where the refusal of AFL-CIO unions to build picket lines no scabs dare to cross is leading inexorably to the defeat of this important working class struggle.

***************************

The first incident we came across was described in an article in the New York Times this last week: “Clash at Auto Plant in India Turns Deadly”.

This strike, at the Maruti Suzuki auto plant in Manesar, India, outside of New Delhi, the Indian capital, was triggered by the low wages paid to Indian auto workers at this Japanese carmaker’s factories.  The workers, just like their brothers and sisters in Joliet, IL, have long complained that their wages are not keeping up with inflation, even though the company is making record profits.  The workers also have fought against the company’s practice of hiring them on temporary labor contracts and then laying them off when the work slows down.  Sound familiar?  Over 65% of the workers at this particular plant are “temporary” workers.

On top of these universal worker grievances are added the racist nature of India’s caste system.  At Maruti Suzuki, many workers are “Dalits” – considered by racists in Indian society to be lesser human beings from a a lower caste and once universally considered as “untouchables” – literally these human beings were considered by upper-cast Indians to be so “disgusting” that they would not even touch them.  “Dalits” is the generic name for a large grouping of “lower caste” Indians and are part of the large group of “Scheduled Castes and Tribes” which make up almost a quarter of India’s population.  Major strides have been made in India to abolish the caste system; in 1997 the nation elected Dalit K.R. Narayanan as President. (He served in office until 2002.)

The caste system in India is a combination of repulsive racial and ethnic/religious discrimination handed down to Indian bourgeois society from the old Indian feudal society that existed long before British imperialism colonized India in the 1800s.  There has been a centuries-long struggle to wipe out this hideous caste system – a struggle which goes on to this day.  You can not move from one caste to another: you are born into such-and-such a caste, and you will remain of that caste all your life; it is a hereditary mark either of alleged “superiority” or “inferiority”.

A person deemed to be of a “superior” caste is considered to be “superior” in the same way white planters believed themselves to be superior to black slaves in the US before the Civil War.  Marriage or even socializing between castes is discouraged or in some cases almost unheard of.  This system is so ingrained in Indian society that even some so-called “socialist” and “Communist” leaders of the Indian working class  ignore or downplay this brutal discrimination against their fellow workers.  It should come as no surprise to anyone that workers who have long suffered from such systematic discrimination should become the most self-sacrificing leaders of the workers movement in India.

Supervisors at Maruti Suzuki have repeatedly insulted Dalit workers at this plant.  The workers have long protested this repulsive discrimination.  The strike began, according to the workers, when a supervisor insulted a Dalit; when this worker protested against the discrimination, he was suspended.

“When the union tried to intervene, the company called in ‘hundreds of bouncers on its payroll to attack the workers,’ Ram Meher, the president of the Maruti Suzuki Workers Union, said in a statement.”

The workers “then blocked managers from leaving, beat them with iron rods, ransacked offices and set fire to parts of the factory.”  In one account of this strike, the supervisor who made the racist insult was killed during the battle between the factory workers, supervisory personnel and security forces.

The company has denied that they did anything wrong, and the Indian government has backed up the company: the leaders of the workers from the Maruti Suzuki Workers Union were forced to go into hiding as the police searched for the “troublemakers” who “caused” the violence.

**************************

In the second class battle we read of in India (which took place earlier this year) we were struck by the headline:

“Workers lynch factory boss after union leader’s death” which appeared in the Times of India, the nation’s pro-capitalist “newspaper of record”.

Once again, this battle took place when union leader, “M. S. Murali Mohan, a Dalit” was attacked along with a contingent of union workers who had gone to the Regency Ceramics factory to man the picket line at a strike that had been going on there since 1 January 2012.  The bosses called the cops, who immediately came and attacked the trade unionists with rattan canes called “lathis”.  During this police attack, Mohan was beaten severely; he died on his way to the hospital.

Enraged unionists immediately protested their leader’s murder at the police station.  Here is the “Times of India’s” description of what happened next:

“As news of Murali’s death spread, factory workers damaged nearly 50 company cars, buses and trucks and set them on fire. Some private vehicles were also targeted. Residents joined hands with the angry mob of around 600 workers and ransacked the factory. After setting it on fire, they torched an educational institution run by the company, besides burning down a shed.

“Two oil tankers were also gutted, while miscreants looted computers, ceramic tiles and other office material. Some of the workers went to company president K C Chandrashekhar’s house and beat him up with iron rods. He died later in a hospital.”

******************************

Then, last Friday, there was a wildcat strike called by the railroad workers of the Western Railway Motormen Association against “the appointment of two rebel motormen”.  A sickout was called during the afternoon rush hour which resulted in train service being disrupted from 3:30PM until later that evening.  The strike was almost completely successful in shutting down all railway operations.  The union “called off the strike around 8pm after holding talks with WR authorities. But by that time, 50 services had been cancelled and lakhs [thousands] of commuters had suffered.”

Like in the US, there is a law against railroad workers going on strike in India; however, in India it appears that the workers have rendered that particular law as worthless as the paper it’s written on by the simple expedient of… ignoring it!

We recall with great enjoyment how the coal miners of the UMWA did the same thing to the “Taft-Hartley” injunctions that were imposed against the union when they went on strike back during the Carter administration in the 1970s.  Sometimes you just have to break the law in order to build a better society.  You’d think we’d have learned this in the US long ago, with the Civil Rights movement and all.  Yet even today, we are lectured by the phony pro-capitalist union misleaders of the AFL-CIO as to how “you can’t do this” or “you can’t do that” because there’s a law against it.  Of course there’s a law against winning strikes!  It’s a capitalist country, not a workers state!  The corporations write the laws and get their hired flunkies in Washington to pass them and make them the “law of the land”.  It’s our duty to smash those anti-worker laws and by doing so show the bosses who’s really boss; because without the working class, they can own all the factories they want, they factories aren’t worth a bucket of spit without workers to run the machinery.

NYPD Issues Wanted Poster for Two “Professional Agitators” Opposing “Stop and Frisk” Program

Still thinking that we in America do not live in a police state?  Try parsing this: an interracial couple who have actively opposed the New York City Police Department’s racist “stop and frisk” program – which resulted in the public stopping and frisking of nearly 700,000 people – overwhelmingly black and Latino youth – in 2011 alone – and who have been videotaping every police stop-and-frisk they happen across have been targeted by the racist NYPD, on the basis of what the cops call this couple’s status as “professional agitators”!  [Source: Dnainfo.com:” Harlem Couple Branded ‘Professional Agitators’ in NYPD ‘Wanted’ Poster, by Ben Fractenberg and Jeff Mays “]

Christina Gonzalez and Matthew Swaye, activists in the “Stop Stop and Frisk” campaign, who are actively documenting these racist police stops and then posting the videos on their YouTube site have become the targets of the NYPD for asserting their constitutional rights and for defending the constitutional rights of all working people in NYC.  They recently found out that the cops in their neighborhood district (which they call the “Dirty 30″th) have ominously issued what is for all intents and purposes, a “Wanted: Dead or Alive” poster featuring Christina and Matthew!

The poster reads at the top: “30th Pct [sic] Professional Agitators” and then, under booking photos of both Gonzalez and Swaye, in an incomparably beautiful confirmation of just what kind of education is required to be a New York City police sergeant we get this prose;  “BE AWARE THAT SUBJECTS ARE KNOWN PROFESSIONAL AGITATORS THAT LIVE AT [number and street address of their apartment! – IWPCHI].  ABOVE SUBJECTS MO IS THAT THEY VIDEO TAPE [sic] OFFICERS PERFORMING ROUTINE STOPS AND POST ON YOUTUBE.  SUBJECTS [sic] PURPOSE IS TO PORTRAY OFFICERS IN A NEGATIVE WAY AND TOO [sic] DETER OFFICERS FROM CONDUCTING THERE [sic] RESPONSIBILITES [sic].  ABOVE SUBJECTS ALSO DETER OFFICERS FROM BEING SAFE AND TACTICAL BY CAUSING UNNECESSARY DISTRACTION.  DO NOT FEED INTO ABOVE SUBJECTS [sic] PROPAGANDA.”  This hopefully career-destroying missive is signed: “SGT. NICHOLSON 30 PCT [indecipherable] CELL [the Sergeant’s cell phone number]”!

These young activists have a quite interesting YouTube site in which they document the police harassing people all over the city for no apparent reason.  They also have a video which shows that right after they exposed the existence of the cops’ wanted poster via YouTube, the police retaliated by sending out three squad cars on a phony “911” call to the young activists’ apartment building, and then filmed the activists as they documented the police harassment.

Many people posting comments to Gonzalez and Swaye’s YouTube site – including some who may be members of the NYPD –  have warned them that they had “better watch out” because the cops can have them framed and imprisoned – or worse – any time they want.  Undaunted, these brave young workers and their friends continue to go after the racist cops, recently attempting to personally present the “Bull Connor Award” to NYPD Commandant Raymond Kelly for “keeping New York City safe for white people”!  [“Raymond Kelly Wins Bull Connor Award” on youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfedV0yhRFU&feature=plcp]

The Independent Workers Party says: “NYPD Hands Off Christina Gonzalez and Matthew Swaye!  We demand that all ‘Stop and Frisk’ programs in the US Cease Immediately!”

The NYPD’s racist “Stop and Frisk” program, which has been criticized worldwide – and instituted in every major US city by both Republican and mostly Democratic mayors –  involves the combination of  the idiotic “zero tolerance” and “prevention of crime” philosophies that seem to have been taken right out of the Tom Cruise movie “Minority Report”.   The concept arose during the 1978-1989 mayoral reign of right-wing pig Edward Koch and his police commandant Benjamin Ward, who was the very first black NYPD Commissioner.   Ward made a very interesting statement which goes right to the heart of the argument that the way to end racist police violence is to hire more black cops on the premise that they would be more sensitive to racial issues due to the color of their skin: “Many people make the mistake of thinking that black people are liberal because they are black. I’m very, very liberal when it comes to race relations, but when it comes to law enforcement, I am very, very conservative”.  [Source: New York Times, “Benjamin Ward, Former New York City Police Commissioner, 75, Dies” by Douglas Martin, June 11, 2002]

It was Ward who initiated the “quality of life” campaign that involved sending out cops to bust people for very minor crimes.  The “philosophy” behind this campaign was first proposed by James Q. Wilson, the “Shattuck Professor of Government” at Harvard University from 1961 to 1987 and later a member of the right-wing think tank the American Enterprise Institute.   His philosophy of crimefighting techniques was developed in his book “Thinking About Crime”, published in 1975, in which he asserted that the way to reduce crime was to increase prison sentences, thereby “keeping criminals off the streets”.  Later, more famously, in a controversial article he co-wrote in 1982 for the “Atlantic Monthly” entitled “Broken Windows” he expanded on this idea.  In this article – citing absolutely no research sources to buttress their grandiose claims – Wilson and his co-author, George L. Kelling wrote: “[A]t the community level, disorder and crime are usually inextricably linked, in a kind of developmental sequence.  Social psychologists and police officers tend to agree that if a window in a building is left broken and is left unrepaired, all the rest of the windows will soon be broken.  This is as true in nice neighborhoods as in rundown ones. Window-breaking does not necessarily occur on a large scale because some areas are inhabited by determined window-breakers whereas others are populated by window-lovers; rather, one unrepaired broken window is a signal that no one cares, and so breaking more windows costs nothing. (It has always been fun.)”  [Source: The Atlantic Monthly: ” Broken Windows: The Police and Neighborhood Safety “, by George L. Kelling and James Q. Wilson, March, 1982]

The article gives a precise description of the type of “Quality of Life” policing that was to become the rallying cry for both Republican and Democratic “law and order” politicians from the Reagan era to this day:

“One of us (Kelling) spent many hours walking with Newark foot-patrol officers to see how they defined “order” and what they did to maintain it…

“The people on the street were primarily black; the officer who walked the street was white. The people were made up of ‘regulars’ and ‘strangers.’ Regulars included both ‘decent folk’ and some drunks and derelicts who were always there but who ‘knew their place.’ Strangers were, well, strangers, and viewed suspiciously, sometimes apprehensively. The officer—call him Kelly—knew who the regulars were, and they knew him. As he saw his job, he was to keep an eye on strangers, and make certain that the disreputable regulars observed some informal but widely understood rules. Drunks and addicts could sit on the stoops, but could not lie down. People could drink on side streets, but not at the main intersection. Bottles had to be in paper bags. Talking to, bothering, or begging from people waiting at the bus stop was strictly forbidden. If a dispute erupted between a businessman and a customer, the businessman was assumed to be right, especially if the customer was a stranger. If a stranger loitered, Kelly would ask him if he had any means of support and what his business was; if he gave unsatisfactory answers, he was sent on his way. Persons who broke the informal rules, especially those who bothered people waiting at bus stops, were arrested for vagrancy. Noisy teenagers were told to keep quiet… Sometimes what Kelly did could be described as ‘enforcing the law,’ but just as often it involved taking informal or extralegal steps to help protect what the neighborhood had decided was the appropriate level of public order. Some of the things he did probably would not withstand a legal challenge.”

Sound familiar?  This is precisely the type of aggressive “community policing” that has filled the nation’s jails and prisons with MILLIONS of people – mostly people of color – arrested for minor drug and criminal offenses.  The black top cop Ward initiated this scheme; the widely hated regime of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani later expanded upon it and codified it.  Borne of the “mind” of a fictional racist cop who, his inventors say, admits that he often “has to” trample on the Constitution in order to “effectively” do his job, this fake sociopolitical philosophy has nothing scientific behind it at all.  It is based on anecdotal evidence synthesized from the core beliefs of fundamentally racist “law and order” dinosaur cops who were supposed to have disappeared from the ranks of the police departments of the US long ago.  It is nothing but old-school racist police work given a “scholarly” coat of whitewash and passed off as “scientific” research into the basis of criminality in society – a basis that had to be found to exist outside of the realm of the obvious culpability of the capitalist system itself, which creates poverty and crime faster than even the most vicious racist cop could ever beat it down.

In today’s New York City – and throughout the racist nightmare that exists in the ghetto areas of every US city – the rise in police “stop and frisk” operations has reached a point at which millions of intelligent young people of color have had enough – and have stood up to defend their rights.  In a country where unemployment among black teens living in the cities is upwards of 70% and there is widespread poverty and crime as a result, the capitalist rulers deny that it is their system to blame for these conditions.  They even deny that there is any relationship between crime and poverty at all in an attempt to defend their indefensible capitalist economic system!

In recent years, cops all over the country have trumpeted their supposed “proof” that crime is not related to capitalism-caused poverty: the crime statistics being kept by the cops which show that crime has actually DECREASED as unemployment and poverty have INCREASED.  But in the past couple of years it has been shown that the alleged decline in crimes reported to the police have a much different cause: the cops are refusing to fill out any paperwork at all for many crimes being reported to them, and are classifying serious crimes downward, artificially making it appear as if their “quality of life” policing is effective at reducing crime!

In 2010, The NY Daily News ran articles based on the reports of NYC cop Adrian Schoolcraft, who reported that in the 81st Precinct where he worked, cops had been told to downgrade crime reports in order to “improve” the precinct’s crime rate!   Schoolcraft’s exposure of the 81st’s practice of “record[ing] felonies as misdemeanors and refused to take complaints from victims – all in an effort to drive down the crime rate” led to investigations of the 81st and other police districts in New York City, which amply confirmed his claims.

Some of the incidents described by Schoolcraft included a case where an elderly man’s home was burglarized and a huge hole punched through his door – a crime which the 81st precinct cops reported had “no evidence” to back up his claims; and a man who was “beaten bloody and robbed” whose case was classified as a “lost property” case!  [Source: NY Daily News, “Brooklyn’s 81st Precinct probed by NYPD for fudging stats” by Rocco Parascandola, February 1, 2010;  New York Times: “Retired Officers Raise Questions on Crime Data” by William K. Rashbaum, February 6, 2010; and “Former Commander Recalls Pressure to Alter Reports” by Al Baker, February 7, 2010.]

Later investigations around the US found the same fraudulent manipulation of crime statistics were happening in police departments in many major cities.  The phony politicians citing phony statistics to make their phony policies look good.  Mostly, it’s the Democrats who run these big-city police departments and who build their political careers – their resumes – on a bed of lies.  In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, while the police chief was claiming that, over a four-year period crime had declined by 21% overall, the local district attorney’s office had seen a decline in felony prosecutions of only 2.6 per cent.  It was found out that the cops had been faking their data for years. [Source: Milwaukee (Wisconsin) Journal Sentinel: “Hundreds of Assault Cases Misreported by Milwaukee Police Department” by Ben Poston, May 22, 2012]

The pro-capitalist press tries to pass off these cases of police lying about crime statistics as “isolated incidents”.  But they have been documented all over the US in practically every big-city police department.  Yet, who cares?  The politicians got elected and re-elected based on these phony stats, and the police chiefs went on to higher paying jobs in the private sector based on their “outstanding work” – falsifying crime statistics.  As they move up their respective career ladders they cause more and more damage to the constitutional rights of citizens, defending their “stop and frisk” programs based on the phony stats, and justifying throwing more and more people into prison based on the phony stats showing phony reductions in crime as the prison population – which is not phony at all – spirals skyward.  Lives are ruined in the millions, but the Democrats and Republicans don’t care: they’re all getting paid.

Had enough of phony government?  Join the Independent Workers Party and fight for a workers government!

Chicago City Council Passes Phony Pot “Recriminalization” Law in Chicago

In a bid to prop up the Democratic Party’s non-existent support among youth, today the Chicago City Council voted 44-3 to pass their phony bill that pretends to decriminalize marijuana, but which actually is just another scam to rob the citizens of Chicago.

Wacko, right-wing nutjob alderman Edward Burke, who voted in favor of the legislation stated: “This is re-criminalization, a more intelligent and effective way of addressing a problem.”

The “problem”, as arch-reactionary Napoleonic Mayor Rahm Emanuel sees it, is that under the old system, in spite of the Chicago Police making over 18,000 arrests (in 2011) and “wasting” 45,000 cop-hours a year processing people who were being arrested for simple possession of this relatively harmless drug, those busted were able to beat their cases 80% of the time! These pigs in the Chicago City Council just want to steal millions of dollars from impoverished youth through these pot fines, like they stole billions from the entire city with their red-light cameras and by privatizing the parking meters.  The Chicago Democrats on the City Council see the workers as nothing but sheep that need to be sheared!

The Democrats are attempting to spin this crappy, reactionary, pro-Drug War legislation as some kind of victory for civil rights.  In fact, the legislation does nothing but give the cops the “option” of giving out tickets instead of arresting people.  And these tickets will not be cheap: the fine for a first offense is $250; a second offense will be $500; and they can then try to force youth to sign up for pointless (but very profitable for the friends of the City Council who run them) “drug rehabilitation” classes.  Please explain to us, dearest Democrats: in a city where the unemployment rate for youth is over 75%, how in the world are these young workers – or their already financially strapped families –  supposed to pay for the tickets they’ll be receiving for the “crime” of smoking or possessing pot?  And if they don’t pay?  Won’t they be thrown in jail anyway?

The most corrupt City Council in North America pretends that this lousy legislation will correct what has historically been a racist application of the drug laws; last year, of the 18,298 total arrests for possession of less than 10 grams of weed (10 nice sized joints), more than 16,000 were of African-Americans.  The City Council, in the original draft language of the ordinance, cited the following statistics: “[E]ach year the Chicago Police Department arrests approximately 23,000 individuals for low level possession of marijuana… a disproportionate number of these arrests are of minorities including 78% African-American, 17% Hispanic and 5% Caucasian”!  Under this new system, obviously, it will still be black workers taking the biggest hit because it will be the same old racist Chicago cops enforcing the drug laws.

Well it comes as no surprise to us that, like everything else the racist, brutal Chicago Police Department does, the burden of their “drug law enforcement efforts” falls heaviest on black and Hispanic workers and youth.  That is not news to anyone living in Emanuel’s ghettoized “city of neighborhoods”.  Hardly a week goes by that the Chicago cops don’t shoot a black or Hispanic youth in the back, claiming he or she pulled a gun on them.  And hardly a week goes by that another disgusting scandal of police brutality doesn’t emerge from the sewer that is the Chicago Police Department.  Just yesterday, the Chicago Sun-Times featured a front-page tale of Chicago cop savagery in which a drunken off-duty Englewood district cop, Chris Gofron, brutally attacked a young couple, sending both of them to the hospital with severe injuries.  The phony-ass “Independent Police Review Board” and the Chicago Police Department spent two years dragging their feet on the case, refusing to identify the psychopathic cop who committed this brutality.  Obscenely, Gofron still carries a gun in Englewood doing god knows what to the people of that embattled south side black neighborhood, while the “Independent Review Board” twiddles it’s thumbs, pretending to investigate the case.  [Source: “Beat Cop”, Chicago Sun-Times, 26 June, 2012]

Quoth Emanuel: “[This] ordinance… allows us to observe the law, while reducing the processing time for minor possession of marijuana – ultimately freeing up police officers for the street.”  Yes, and that’s the true purpose of this war-on-drugs ordinance: to put even more psycho cops like Chris Gofron on the street to terrorize black and Hispanic youth and the general population instead of “wasting their time” on minor drug possession cases.

The Independent Workers party says: Just as we must Dump the Democrats, that reactionary party of war and union-busting, we need to dump their phony “War on Drugs” as well.  It is past time to “re-legalize” all drugs, including cocaine and heroin – make them all legal again, just like they were back in the “good old days” before prohibition.  Drug addiction is a medical and psychological issue, not a criminal issue.  The responsible use of recreational drugs by adults is not and should not be something the government intrudes itself upon.  What the working class does in their own homes on their own time is not the government’s business!

The truth is that the primary reason that drugs are made illegal is that the US government, the military, weapons manufacturers, the bankers and the law enforcement “community” are making billions of dollars off the drug trade.  Over the last couple of years it was revealed that some of the US’ largest banks – including Wachovia, Bank of America and Wells Fargo – made HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars laundering drug money for the big drug cartels, through currency exchanges and other methods.  And even though the US Justice Department got the banks to admit they’d done it – NO ONE WENT TO JAIL!  The banksters simply paid fines and walked away from the case!  Wachovia alone, from 2004 to 2007 handled $378.4 BILLION dollars transferred from Mexico via currency exchanges affiliated with that institution.  Instead of being sent to jail for admitting that they “failed to effectively monitor for potential money laundering activity more than $420 billion in financial transactions”, the criminals running Wachovia bank were able to enter into what the US Attorney General’s office for the Southern District of Florida called a “deferred prosecution”: “In light of Wachovia’s willingness to acknowledge responsibility for its actions and omissions, its cooperation and remedial actions to date, and its promised continued cooperation and remedial actions in the future, the government has agreed to defer prosecution of the criminal charge in the information for 12 months. If Wachovia fully complies with its obligations under the Agreement, the U.S. agrees to dismiss the criminal information at the end of the 12 months.”

Can you believe that!  If a local kid gets caught selling 10 grams of crack cocaine, he goes to jail.  If one of the biggest banks in the US gets caught laundering as much as $420 BILLION in Mexican drug money… they get off if they can somehow manage to keep their fingers out of the drug trade for 12 whole months!  Can you see now who really runs this country?  Read these articles if you think we’re making this up:

[Sources: The Guardian (London): ““How a big US bank laundered billions from Mexico’s murderous drug gangs” by Ed Vulliamy, 2 April 2011;  Bloomberg News: “Banks Financing Mexico Gangs Admitted In Wells Fargo Deal”  by Michael Smith, 28 June 2010; US Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Florida Press Release: “Wachovia Enters Into Deferred Prosecution Agreement” 17 March 2010]

Then last year we learned that, between 2006 and 2011 the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms allowed THOUSANDS of guns to be shipped from the US to drug lords in Mexico – while the ATF watched.  This is what is now known as the “Fast and Furious” scandal, which Democrat Barack Obama’s Administration has been trying to cover up, and whose Attorney General, Eric Holder, has just been found to be in contempt of Congress for impeding Congressional investigations into this unbelievably massive corruption at ATF.  Think we’re lying?  Read the newspaper articles at the end of the Wikipedia essay on what they call the “ATF gunwalking scandal”!  There are 87 of them and counting, each one more stunning than the previous one.

[Sources: Wikipedia: “ATF Gunwalking Scandal” ]

In Afghanistan, before the US invaded, the Taliban had almost completely wiped out the cultivation of opium poppies.  As soon as the US invaded, Afghanistan once again became one of the world’s biggest suppliers to the heroin trade – and the brother of the US’ puppet leader in Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, was alleged to be the biggest heroin dealer in that brutalized nation!

Need more proof that the big US and international banks are deeply involved in the drug trade?  Check this out: in 2009, Antonio Maria Costa, the head of the UN’s “Office on Drugs and Crime” told the Guardian newspaper of London that “[d]rugs money worth billions of dollars kept the financial system afloat at the height of the global crisis” in 2008!

“Costa, head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, said he has seen evidence that the proceeds of organised crime were ‘the only liquid investment capital’ available to some banks on the brink of collapse last year. He said that a majority of the $352bn (£216bn) of drugs profits was absorbed into the economic system as a result”!

” ‘In many instances, the money from drugs was the only liquid investment capital. In the second half of 2008, liquidity was the banking system’s main problem and hence liquid capital became an important factor,’ he said.”

The War on Drugs is a naked attempt to control the US population by making pleasure illegal.  Like the reactionary laws against prostitution, making drugs illegal gives the government the “goods” on just about every citizen in the US.  If you’re not into drugs, you must be into kinky sex, right?  Make those two things illegal, and you can bust anyone, any time.

It’s time to STOP THE WAR ON DRUGS!  RE-LEGALIZE ALL “ILLEGAL” DRUGS, like they were before 1930s drug prohibition!

Rodney King Dead at 47 – An Appreciation of a Working Class Hero

The Independent Workers Party is saddened to hear of the death of Rodney King at the young age of 47.  His death appears accidental; he was at home with his wife when it occurred.  He was a Hero of the Working Class.  Our sympathy and condolences go out to his family and friends.

Rodney King became famous in a way that no one wants to become famous: he was beaten into the world’s consciousness by the racist Los Angeles Police Department in 1992.   The video of the savage beating he received at the hands of the LAPD on the night of March 3, 1991 was broadcast all over the world and provoked outrage from all decent human beings everywhere.

“I was close to death on March 3, 1991,” he said during an April interview for Ebony magazine at the Los Angeles Marriott Hotel downtown. “I thought they were going to kill me.” [Source: ‘The Root’, “Rodney King’s Legacy: A Civil Rights Symbol”]

Mr. King had been drinking beer at a friend’s house – as young men everywhere do – when they decided to drive somewhere – as young men do.  He was driving a car along the freeway in Los Angeles when a husband-and-wife team of California Highway Patrol officers saw King’s car coming up behind them “at a high rate of speed”.   While it is certainly not unusual for automobiles to drive on the freeways of Los Angeles at speeds well in excess of the posted limit – when doing so is actually possible – King’s car was the one that caused the CHP officers to give chase.  King, who was on probation at the time and who quite reasonably did not want to go back to jail, foolishly took off in his car, and a chase ensued.  According to the CHP, they reached speeds of up to 117 MPH.

Soon, King had left the highway and started speeding through residential streets; the LAPD was notified of the ongoing chase and their officers responded.  After driving through the city at speeds up to 80 MPH, the chase ended when police blocked off the road King was driving on.  It was at this time that the events transpired that made Rodney King a household name in much of the world.

King’s friends exited the car and basically cooperated with the police.  King, according to pilice, was “acting strangely”.  At least one LAPD Officer took a quick look at Mr. King and immediately fantasised that King was high on PCP, which meant, according to LAPD and Drug War propaganda and training, that King was capable of “superhuman feats of strength” and could single-handedly pose a deadly threat to the half-dozen armed police on the scene.  Mr. King was acting oddly, but was not making any attempt to attack the police when the first cop drew her gun.  King was ordered to lie down on the ground, which he did.

The group of LAPD officers then “swarmed’ Mr. King and attempted to subdue him and handcuff him all at once.  He resisted this assault – which it is within a citizen’s right to do.  It is illegal in most states (if not all of them) to resist arrest in any way – UNLESS excessive force is being used to effect that arrest.  Mr. King, seeing the police “swarm” him, attempted to push two cops off his back, and then he allegedly punched one cop in the chest.  At this time, one of the officers fired a Taser into Mr. King’s back.  Mr. King reacted to the electricity blasting through his body by screaming and making a move toward one of the police.  At this point, the police began beating Mr. King to a pulp.

He was struck over 50 times, during which time he was handcuffed and dragged across the ground.

Just moments after the beating of Mr. King, one of the arresting officers, Sargent Stacey Koon, “typed a message into his in-car computer: ‘U just had a big time use of force.  Tased and beat the suspect of CHP pursuit.’  [Another LAPD officer, Laurence] Powell also reported the incident on his computer–in a seemingly boastful way that would come to haunt the defense.  Powell typed, ‘I haven’t beaten anyone this bad in a long time.’ It wasn’t Powell’s only controversial message that night.  Later, investigators would discover another message sent shortly before the King arrest in which he described the scene of a domestic disturbance involving African-Americans as right out of ‘Gorillas in the Mist.'” [Source: Univ. of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law website: “The Trials of Los Angeles Police Officers’ in Connection
with the Beating of Rodney King”, by Doug Linder (2001)].

The savagery of the beating, which had been captured on video by a man who lived 100 feet away from the scene, outraged people worldwide.  Protests against racist police attacks took place in every major US city and college campus.  Without question, the video was, and is, a perfect example of unprovoked police brutality.  In the climate of anger that resulted from the national broadcast and rebroadcast of the video, people called upon the government to see to it that the police who committed this outrage face criminal charges.  And a Grand Jury did, in fact, find that four of the LAPD officers who took part in the beating should stand trial – the four were charged with “excessive use of force”.  This seemingly mild assessment of a beating which could very well have resulted in death outraged many; and the decision to move the trial from Los Angeles County to the neighboring Simi Valley, in Ventura County – a change of venue from a county with a high percentage of minority residents to one that was nearly all-white.  But the final outrage was to be committed on April 23, 1992, when the jury hearing the case acquitted 3 of the 4 officers.

Immediately, Los Angeles erupted in outrage.  The LA Riots began.  Crowds surged into the streets expressing their very real and very justified anger at the miscarriage of justice.  Stores were looted, fires were set, and racist attacks occurred.  In one case, a white truck driver, Reginald Denny, was pulled from the cab of his truck and severely beaten by black youths.  His life was saved by another group of black citizens who immediately rushed to his aid and drove his assailants away.

In Chicago, this reporter was working with the Trotskyist Spartacist League; we prepared to go out and distribute a leaflet the party had just produced, condemning both the racist acquittal of the cops and the racist retaliatory attacks that had taken place in response to the acquittals.  Even here in Chicago, the tension in the air was palpable: you felt that any small spark could have ignited a similarly violent response from black workers here in Chicago and all over the US, who had long suffered from exactly the same kind of racist assaults that Rodney King had suffered at the hands of the LAPD.  African-Americans everywhere were very justifiably angry all over the country and it seemed that we could be on the brink of nationwide rioting similar to what occurred in the wake of the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

It was into this maelstrom that Rodney King appeared.  he was going to make a statement in response to the acquittals that would be broadcast live on worldwide television.  Everyone paused to see what he would say.  In his hands was a lot of power to set events in motion, either for the better or for the worse.  No one really knew that much about him; he did not seem to have been very political at all before he was beaten into fame by the cops.  But over the months that had passed since that brutal attack, he had been propagandized by every political group in the country, from the Democrats to the New Black Panthers.  What would he say?

The video, or portions of it, are still available on You Tube.  Well, dressed and obviously extremely nervous to have been placed in such a situation, and with the riots happening nearby in Los Angeles, surrounded by the news crews and their cameras that would beam his every word to hundreds of millions of waiting people all over the world, Rodney King came forth and asked for… peace!   Speaking with great difficulty – he was not a public speaker; nothing he had done in his life had prepared him for this moment – his voice quavering with emotion, he spoke: “I just want to say…  you know… can we… can we all… get along?  Can we… can we get along?  Um… can we stop making it… making it horrible for… for the… for the older people and the… and the… and the kids…?”

It was one of the most moving speeches I have ever seen.  This man heroically, in the words and gestures of, not a politician or a demagogue, but of a working man, in just a sentence, asked the nation to just calm down and to back away from the precipice of what could have been the start of some very ugly racial attacks.  He completely defused the most explosive racial situation I’ve ever witnessed.  He was brilliant.  He was courageous. And he was right.

The content of his message has been ridiculed by fools of every stripe.  They seem to have completely forgotten the context in which these simple words were uttered.  By openly repudiating any assertion that Rodney King wanted people to go out and “tear shit up” in retaliation for what had been done to him, he pulled the rug right out from under all the angry people and opportunists who were using the atrocity of the beating he received and the racist acquittals as a justification for rioting and worse.  Immediately after Mr. King spoke, you could feel the tension rolling back; and though people were still very angry, they were starting to see things from a much less purely emotional perspective.

Mr. King’s speech did not end the violence immediately:  the riots in LA had already gone out of control.  Many people in LA were already out in the streets and did not get to hear the live broadcast of Rodney King’s appeal to their rational sides.  In LA, the US Army, Marines and National Guard were called out to “settle things down”.  In LA, 53 people lost their lives, almost 2400 people were injured, and over 7,000 fires damaged or destroyed thousands of businesses.  Additional significant outpourings of anger took place in Atlanta, Las Vegas and San Francisco and smaller disturbances occurred all over the US.   We believe that it was Rodney King’s actions that prevented many more elemental outbursts of violence from occurring.

The Independent Workers Party, on behalf of the working class salutes our fallen brother Rodney King and remembers him fondly from pulling the nation back from the brink of the nightmare of coast-to-coast race riots.  On the night of April 23, 1992, Rodney King was a Rock Star.  More than that: he was a Working Class Hero.  And we will never forget him and what he achieved for the multiracial working class of the world that night.
